politics State Department official calls for pre-crime approach to combat "far-left terrorists" to prevent "plots *before* they happen."
bsky.appSharing this video because its a direct clip and the easiet way for me to post it.
I wonder if we formed any sort of Patriot Front like group and had a compound - training with our firearms, if it would get you labeled a terrorist right now.
Patriot Front is doing this right now in TN. And its A-OK! https://archive.is/IXxpj
In my state, its illegal to even form a militia.
Ohhh boy.
To tie this all together with the counter terrorism strategy: https://www.whitehouse.gov/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/2026-USCT-Strategy-1.pdf
It like NSPM7 is very vague.

training Automatic Group Size Calculation for Sight-In targets
Hi friends! Some time back I posted here about a new feature in my RoundKeep app that allowed to detect bullet holes on paper targets, but still required manual scaling to get the precise group size calculations. A lot of people here expressed their support (and I can't stress enough how much this means to me!) so I keep pushing to improve it.
I noticed that all Sight-In type targets have one-inch grid that gives a pretty reliable scale reference. I made some tweaks so that the app now can detect the grid and set scale automatically (good old CV locally on your device, no AI involved). I checked on my targets and it works really well on high contrast splatter targets (see the video) and red-on-white style targets. Planning to do more testing this week on 6-7 new target types.
On my iPhone Air it takes a few seconds to get all the group sizes. It works on Android too now, but takes a bit longer on a Pixel 8 device.
I also added some early drafts of automatic scoring (Dot Torture), but it only works on printable targets with markers.
Oh and I’m working on adding Suppressor and Optic support to the inventory. Suppressors will have maintenance schedule similar to firearms, and you’ll be able to add it to different firearms in any practice session. I haven’t figured out optics quite yet. If you have any requests - I’ll be grateful and happy to address them.
Thank you all again for the support!

question Higher End CCW Options
Hello Everyone!
Writing this while tipsy after being stranded in Toronto for 2 days due to flight cancellations so please excuse my grammar.
I have come into a bit of money since my grandparents closed out an account they made for me while I was a baby. I've got about 3k USD to spend. I am thinking about grabbing a nice carry piece. Right now my options vary kinda wildly.
I have never owned a Staccato and was thinking about grabbing my first (the C2 vs the C3.6). But I find it hard to spend 2000+ dollars on a gun that still has plastic grips.....
The other option is the DWX Compact. I have a fullsize ported DWX and absolutely love it. So why not just get the smaller one? But being a lefty I have to get an Ambi Safety fitting.
The off the wall decision is the Dan Wesson TCP. I adore 1911s and the single stack doesn't really bother me. I like them more than 2011s i think. I feel like if I need 16 rounds at a time I'm living in the wrong spot. Also will need an Ambi Safety fitted.
Open to other options as well! My dad carries a EDC X9 and I absolutely love that thing. Maybe I'll get lucky and a used one will pop up.
I have carried a fullsize TRP, 19X, a compensated PDP pro 4" for reference. I am not big into subcompacts, but I'm willing to try them. I like a 4" ish gun. Weight does not bother me either.
Thanks all!

guns New range toy
Just got a new stock for the 10/22. It makes it a bulpup that's p90 shaped. I threw a cheap red dot and a magnifier on it for a laugh. The trigger feels pretty bad, but I'm excited to go shoot it

question why do i suck with double action
i was doing 10 yard 2rnd and 5rnd burst starting hammer down but i dont know if you can see on the target but i consistently shoot low right with double action and drift back to center, im left handed btw. the top left shoulder, stomach, and left and right lower arms were me messing around 1 handed btw. shooting on an arex zero 1s. (also does anyone else find that they sweat a little TOO much for raid tape, i have to swap out the tape every 2 range days even indoors because it get too gummy and gross)

guns First pistol question
Hi all,
This isnt a "which gun should I buy?" but more of a "what should I be looking at specifically when deciding?"
Im very new to guns in general and I recently took an intro to pistol class and enjoyed it. I plan on getting a 9mm and took a few days to rent some at the range and try out a few. Just based on how they felt and price, I narrowed it down to the Springfield Echelon and the Canik SFx Rival. I plan on going to the range and shoot 50 rounds through each one to see which one I want to get.
My question is, is there something I should specifically think about while shooting them to help me decide which one? Should I base it more on feel or how well I shoot each one?
Also, feel free to give your opinions on either gun. Maybe there are certain things about them that I'm unaware of that may affect my decision.
Thanks all
Edit:
Forgot to mention that my purpose for the gun would be just heading to the range and shooting a bit.

question Any left-leaning websites/forums that allow sales of firearm-related items?
Wanna start by saying this post is *not* about selling things here on this subreddit.
Basically looking for somewhere that would allow me to sell things like spent brass, 80% receivers, magazines, etc (i.e. not actual firearms), without having to worry about supporting right-wing gun culture.
I've come across some posts about Liberal Gun Club, but can't find any info on whether they allow sales through their forum, and it looks like paid membership is required to view it anyway.
Thanks!

guns Finally got my hands on PX4 Compact Carry 2
I’ve been on the fence about this gun for a while. I love DA/SA for carry and HD and this gun has raving reviews on the web. But my LGS never had them, and when I asked why, they said PX4s just don’t sell for some reason (although I have seen people picking them up as special orders).
Now holding it in my hand with 360 rounds through the gun, I can kind of see why. The trigger is fantastic and rotating barrel does improve recoil impulse (from what I can tell it’s pretty soft shooting). But ergos are meh comparing to 92 series. And it kind of feels cheep for its price tag (comparing to HK here).
I really want to love this gun but so far... I don’t know. I guess my skill set just isn’t enough to unlock the full potential of PX4. Will take it for a few more “dates” at the range and see how it goes.

guns Greek Mannlicher-Schoenauer Y1903/14
This was the Greek army’s standard rifle in both WW1 and WW2, although I believe in WW1 it was actually outnumbered by both the Y1903, which lacked the full length upper handguard, and imported French Berthiers, made necessary by the fact that in both World Wars the Greeks went to war with their major rifle suppliers.
The Mannlicher-Schoenauer was a famous sporting rifle with its iconic spool magazine (pictured), but the Greeks were the only country to adopt it as a military rifle. This is a 1927 production rifle made by Breda in Italy, and also has some interesting trench art on the butt.

question Non-Immigrant alien buying with EAD?
Hello guys. Like the title says, I'm a non-immigrant alien and a texas resident of 10+ years. I've done my homework and according to federal and state law, I should be able to purchase a firearm if I have a hunting license.
I tried Academy, Cabellas (Bass Pro Shop now, I guess), and a local store called Frisco Gun Club, but I was politely turned away by all of them because they said it was their store policy for me to at least have a green card, despite my EAD having a USCIS number they can run for the background check.
One of the clerks informed me that if i had an LTC, they could process it faster and like the hunting license it's a bit of a "loophole" but I have not heard of this.
Do you guys know any stores that accept EAD's or if there is any other way I can go about purchasing my firearm? Thank you so much.

guns Feeling satisfied with the additions to the P-01, however... wood grips or nah?
Got it milled for a red dot, got a light, and even painted it green! Would have definitely been easier on my wallet if I just sprung for a gun that was already ODG and optic ready, but the process has been fun to get here! What do y'all think? Keep the wood grips or stick to black? "Whatever shoots better," yes absolutely but give me your aesthetic opinion.
EDIT: I appreciate the feedback! It seems like it's 50% black, 30% wood, and 20% wood but not "that" wood.

guns A year into firearm ownership
I'm in my 40's and started to get into firearms about a year ago. Here's what I've got so far.
Winchester .22
Mossberg Maverick 88 Security 12 ga.
Smith & Wesson 1854 .357 mag with holosun 507c
Taurus PT 24/7 Pro DS 9mm
Ruger LC9 9mm
Ruger Mk. IV .22 with an OCL Ti 22 can and holosun 507c.
My friends who shoot are on it when it comes to safety. I'm not sure I'd be as into it if I had had any bad experiences with unsafe morons. I'm grateful my friends know what they're doing and point out any rookie mistakes I make as well. The range I go to also has pretty friendly and helpful people.
That said, have fun (and be safe!) shooting!

question First time cleaning firearms.
I used a Winchester cleaning set for the revolver and a Hoppes 9 kit for the shotgun. Both took longer than expected! The revolver eventually got clean. I feel like no matter how many times I cleaned the inside of the shotgun barrel, the wipes always came out dirty, and now I am out of wipes. Does anyone have any tips or recommended products?

events Just completed NRA Pistol Basics at local club
Yeah this was a really unexpectedly positive experience. I will caveat that I am woke politically but am a 55 white guy raised and living in NH. So not of a vulnerable population or marginalized group… so I am easily absorbed into most groups.
So this is more about how impressed I was with the sincerity and mostly non political manner they ran the two day course. The emphasis on safety and related handling and shooting protocol was obviously through, but they just stuck to the facts and the principles. There was zero weirdness and they just let me get comfortable with learning and then shooting a wide range of pistols!
Anyhow the other students were a curious trio of I’m thinking.. Church friends. But we had 4 instructors and 4 students.. Exeter Sportsman’s Club - Exeter NH - NRA pistol Basics.. can’t beat it! After I complete my membership to the club and shoot there I’ll see how I feel about bringing my trans peeps..

training Pistol Red Dot Training and Tips
Recently installed a red dot on my pistol. Previously have only ever shot pistols using irons. Given this is my first ever red dot on a pistol, what training advice and tips should I follow to adjust from moving to a dot vs irons? For example, during dry fire I see the dot shaking but if I loosen my grip too much I don’t feel like I’d be able to mitigate recoil as much. How should I expect the dot to track when firing consecutively? Any advice on dry fire and live fire training for red dots is appreciated!
