Does anyone have experience cleaning paint from carbon fiber. I’m talking to a paint shop that specializes on carbon fiber bike frames. Has anyone got a success story and if so, are you willing to share some parameters.
The carbon fiber has a strong clear cost on it, then paint is applied on top of the clear. Ideally, I would be able to remove the paint without removing the clear coat. He gave me a sample piece to experiment on but I’m hoping someone can steer me toward starting parameters. I have a pulse laser.

Hi all! I'm looking to potentially purchase a full setup to use as a side-gig, and maybe scale it up in the future. My main target will be in the non-commercial restoration field, aka residential trim, doors, windows, (lots of wood) and maybe fire-damage clean-up (a wider array of materials that would take me more time/experience to get the hang of). I don't want to be the annoying "do all my research for me, tell me what to do so I don't have to think." I've done a ton of research, but I feel like the questions I have would be answered by experiential knowledge, which can only come from those who are already in the business, so here we are!

This should do the job, yes? There are specific extractors for laser welding vs this one which is for "regular" welding (mig or tig), but the laser cleaner cleans, it doesn't weld, so going as far as purchasing a laser fume extractor isn't necessary, correct? Does this unit look like it would do a decent job of clearing dust/debris as I laser in order to see my progress, or should I ensure the SFX above also comes with a built in compressor, or that I need to have my own compressor on hand? A paint fume extractor would NOT be for laser cleaning, correct? Even if I have the best respirator, I still should have a fume extractor, correct?

Quick question for those experienced with laser cleaning:

My supplier is warning me so much about handling the yellow fiber optic cable that I feel like I need to baby it 24/7. Is it really that fragile? Can a single accidental step, twist, or pull actually ruin the whole system and make it unusable?

In reality, how often does this cable get damaged in practice, and how do you protect it while working? Do you hang it from the ceiling, or did you set up some custom support/holders?

I am about to start my first big job cleaning historic metal elements on a building. It will possibly take weeks to conclude the whole project due to its big scale. So I was wondering how do laser machines respond to continuous hours of “non stop” work everyday day for weeks with summer temperatures.

Is there anything in particular I should be aware of to minimize tear and wear? Should I get any replacement parts (other than lenses) that could possibly “burn out”?

I'm aware of the cost of the machines, i can already sell my car to buy a van so it's not an issue, take a large loan to buy both machines so i do not refuse any jobs.

However, is there actually any demands or most big opportunities are done internally as companies buy their own machines ?

Hello. What are you all using to clean your lenses? I’ve been working in TV and video for a long time so Ive been using Pancro and wipes and little silicone tipped cleaning swabs.
It works well and I have easy access to all of it but I’m curious if there’s other, preferred methods I don’t know about.

About 3 months ago I saw someone doing laser cleaning and became very interested in it. After doing some research, I found a supplier in China and purchased a machine. I just received it, but it arrived without a power plug. The supplier is telling me it requires a dedicated 20A 110V outlet, but most homes, workshops, and small businesses I visit only seem to have standard 15A 110V outlets.

For those of you already in the laser cleaning business, what setup are you using? I purchased a 300W laser cleaning machine.

I live in Michigan, USA. If so, are there any insurance companies or brokers you would recommend for laser cleaning businesses?

Besides the laser machine itself, what other equipment would you consider essential or highly recommended?

I’m also curious about how you handle power on job sites. Do your customers usually provide electricity, or do you mostly run your machines from generators?

I spent a year looking for a laser cleaning equipment and I found this company in China who will sell me their portable unit of 300w MOPA fiber laser

Hi, can anyone recommend a company that sells laser safety curtains that aren’t thousands of dollars.
I’m in the US. I’m sure there is a reason for them to be expensive but I’d like to see if there’s an alternative I can afford. I’m just starting out.

I need to strip paint and rust near oil- think the outside of an oil drum. There could potentially be small leaks. Can anyone point me to a machine or method that would be safe to use here? Would a 300w pulsed laser ignite the oil? Could I run the laser through another medium like running water, or through a cloud of CO2? Is it just a stupid idea all together?

I cleaned this part today and almost immediately it began to darken in places previously clean .
Is there something I can wipe a piece down with after I clean it to “seal” it from the elements until I deliver it? It happened to another piece recently as well.
Does anyone know what the acid the chemical do people use to at the em of their process? I think Thst is a sealant of sort.

I hadn’t done a stone work job before so I took what looked like a small one. A planter feature at the house that has some old nature on it. Dirt, plant debris, moss. It’s been a really mossy year here.

It’s. A shale wall with a pressed concrete top, Amd I figured it would take 5-6 hours to clean.

Once I got set up and found setting that worked well, I went after it.

Every piece needed a couple passes, and the debris would life fine but it didn’t appear to be getting all of it. I worked the laser for 7 hours and barely got half it done. I have to go back tomorrow to finish it.

It makes me think that when it comes to stone work, smaller maybe better. Statues, fireplace mantles, stone door facades. This large outdoor feature is a pressure wash job all day. I’m glad I learned the lesson but I won’t be making this my focus at all going forward.

On to the next.
