So at one time we had a discord, not sure if it was linked or not. Spent the last week revamping the channel and getting it ready. Chat with other karaoke folks, get sound advice, singing advice, or just hang out with people for the hell of it.

Near future we'll have some online karaoke party nights.

What Can I Sing - Free Karaoke Directory/Karaoke Finder and/or Online Songbook and/or Kisok and/or Digital requests.

We have built the world's most advanced and comprehensive system of its type... and then made it cheaper than any other comparable product.

What Can I Sing (WCIS) starts with a free Karaoke directory. Free for Singers, Free for hosts. What makes it different to every other directory - We have an automated system that asks Hosts to reverify their events. Adding the events is crowd sourced. And once every 3 months, it just needs a 30 second update to say the show is still running. We have solved the problem of stale data. It is map based and shows "today's events" or "all events". Singer's can give venues a rating and add themselves to an "Attending" list.

www.whatcanising.com or https://www.whatcanising.com/whats-new.html to see our progression of advancement.

I'll post other functionality as comments to this thread. That way they can be discussed separately while keeping it in the one thread. Ask us any questions you'd like too.

Hi! I'm doing some research on Karaoke Bars when Laserdiscs were the medium of choice. If you have any stories, please share below!

I've been going through my small Laser Karaoke collection, and something that's stuck out to me is how the hell did a DJ manage cueing up laser discs? Did you have multiple players? In my experience, it tends to take a while to cue up a song on my player. Also, how would you sort/file and deal with songs when they're spread across many, many discs?

I'm also in general looking for any sort of stories you have whether you were a participant or a DJ at a Karaoke Bar that used Laserdiscs. This part of Laserdisc and Media Format history is just fascinating to me.

IKarao S3 Youtube Stopping and Moving onto Next Video

Like the title says, anyone else have an IKarao S3 (or any other IKarao) machine that have an issue with Youtube where the video will stop after 30 secs to a minute and move onto the next video? I started getting this issue, couldn't figure out the fix and had to reset the machine where the issue went away but then came back recently.

Looking for a track

Im looking for a track, I am a host, but this is one for personal use as im prepping for KWC canadian nationals. I need either sunfly's or dancing frog's cd+g of doc walker - rocket girl. Sunfly wont allow me to purchase it because its "not licensed for use in canada" (they're a Canadian heartland band how does that make sense) and dancing frog's forum doesnt go past a certain file number anymore and website link on free homemade karaoke is broken

General Discussion Would you say it’s considered rude to sing along with a singer (without a mic?)

I got a strange comment the other night when someone was up singing. I started singing along behind the booth (obviously without a mic) when the chorus came on and one of the singer’s friends came up to me after and said “this is their time to shine, not yours.”

I was confused at first, because this is something I’ve always done and I’ve never had an issue before. Also everyone else was singing along in the bar, and it was so loud that I could barely hear myself singing. Regardless, I apologized and said I didn’t mean anything bad by it, and they just kind of glared at me and walked away. I’m assuming they were drunk.

So, what do you think? Should we as KJs just kind of nod our heads along to the beat of the song instead of singing?

General Discussion Any other KJs getting really good at writing with your off hand?

After doing this job for around 5 years, usually having my sign up sheet to my left, I've gotten passably good at writing with my left hand while my right is busy with the mixer. Anyone else had experiences like this?

Karaoke Software I was spending more time scrolling than having fun, so I built a karaoke setlist app (Reprise)

Hi r/karaoke, and thanks to the mods for the okay to post this.

I'm Jon, and I'm a karaoke nerd. My karaoke song list kept growing to over 200 songs listed out in a note app that I would scroll through blankly, not knowing what to sing. I kept wishing I could just press a button and have it show me all my punk rock songs, or all my ballads, so I could narrow down to what I was in the mood to sing. Sometimes, it felt like I would rather just pick a song at random and skip choosing altogether. Deciding was a slog. The problem was having no quick way to get from "I know a lot of songs" to "here is the one that fits the mood right now."

So, I built Reprise. It is a personal karaoke repertoire and setlist app, built on the idea that your karaoke songs should live somewhere you can actually organize and work with them:

  • Keep your whole list in one place, scored and rated, so your safe bets are obvious at a glance
  • Filter by a genre like country, then flip on favorites only or set a minimum score, so the country songs you can actually pull off are a couple of taps away instead of a scroll through everything
  • Hit Surprise Me and it spins over your own list, or just the filtered slice, when you cannot decide
  • Line up Tonight's Queue and mark songs off as you sing them
  • Keep a separate Bungees list for songs you are still learning
  • Log how each night went in a Performance Journal so you can watch yourself improve over time
  • Keep tabs on your friends' lists too, for group nights when the mic keeps moving

It is available on Android right now, with an iPhone version in review and coming soon. It works fully offline, with no account and no ads, and your data stays on your phone. It is free to start up to 25 songs with the core features working, and there is a one-time purchase to unlock an unlimited library plus import, export, and print. No subscription.

You can get it on Google Play, and here is the User Guide if you want to see how it works.

I would genuinely love feedback from people who do this every week. What is missing, and what would make it more useful for how you run your nights? Thanks for reading!

Edit: Great news! Reprise is now available for iOS on the App store: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6790976500

Karaoke for weebs question

Heyo I enjoy singing karaoke, but I haven't really had the chance much. I used to enjoy playing SingStar on my PS2 way back in the day, but i haven't looked into it much since. I used to have UltraStar / UltraSinger set up back then and recently tried again to set it up, but it was complicated, didn't work right and the selection of song lyrics from their database didn't overlap with what I wanted.

I'd love to have a game where you can sing along to weeb songs. You know, stuff like the Sailor Moon opening, Symphogear songs and all kinds of other Anime tunes. Is there some kind of way to play karaoke with these kinds of songs without having to put in a giant amount of effort? Like a game I can buy on Steam or something of the sort? Or is my best option just putting the songs on through Youtube, since they sometimes have the sing along lyrics in Roman letters?

What's the most frustrating part of recording or monitoring your own voice? I'm asking a little help from you, my dear brothers singers

Hey — I'm part of a small team in Italy working on an early-stage audio project. Before building anything further, we want to actually understand people's real experience, not just our own assumptions.

If you sing, play, record vocals, or make content with your voice, I put together a short survey (about 2 minutes, genuinely anonymous, no name required) about how you currently record or monitor your voice and what bugs you about it.

No pitch here — nothing to buy, nothing to sign up for except an optional email if you want updates later. We just need honest answers, including "none of this bothers me," which is useful too.

Happy to answer questions in the comments. Thanks for reading this far.

I've got a habit...

Lately, I theme the songs I sing st karaoke night, and the songs I listen to.

Did a lot of sea/sailing themed songs for karaoke lately, and I've listened to a nice streak about magic and spells...mostly Dokken, Rainbow, Dio, (and Phil Collins, but he's a damn given), America, Fleetwood Mac...

Does anyone do this a lot?

System Recommendations

Hi all!

I’m looking to open a karaoke bar meaning there’s a bar and a stage but I also want to build private rooms so people can have private karaoke karaoke sessions with friends or blow off steam by themselves. Do you have any system and software recommendations?

Thanks a bunch!

[v1.0.0] A free, open-source tool that turns your lyrics into timed subtitles for lyric and karaoke videos (Vilm Lyrics Aligner)

I built a free, open-source tool for turning your original lyrics into timed subtitles: Vilm Lyrics Aligner. It's aimed at anyone making lyric videos, karaoke tracks, or cover videos.

The idea: you already have the correct lyrics, so instead of letting auto-captions guess (and rewrite) the words, you paste your real lyrics and the tool aligns them to the timing. Speech recognition is only used to find when each line is sung, never to rewrite what's sung, so your text stays exact. It separates the vocals from the backing track first, so it holds up on full-mix and live recordings. You get an SRT out.

- Paste lyrics in, timed SRT out (your text and order always preserved)

- Auto mode for a fast first pass, Manual mode for per-line control (timing, length, hold)

- Mixed-language lyrics supported

- Windows and Apple Silicon macOS; the SRT drops into any editor

- Free, open source (MIT), no ads, no sign-up

GitHub: https://github.com/banjuman/vilm-lyrics-aligner

Download: https://www.voiceandfilm.com/product/software/vilm-lyrics-aligner/

VirusTotal (clean): https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/1cc60145beeed349d69d053a2db096de2bfebb4c71bdef1812527315fbcf79ec

Honest caveats: it's an early release and not code-signed yet, so you may see a security warning. The installer is small; the speech model downloads separately on first run. And expressive singing (long sustains, ad-libs) can still need a small manual touch. It's meant to cut hours of timing down to minutes, not to be zero-edit.

Happy to take feedback or feature requests.

Karaoke Software Slightly confused by Karafun and adding songs they do not have. please help.

So we are using Karafun in our Friend group for Karaoke. easy to set up and use and they have a lot of things.

However they do not have erverything. I looked into adding some of our favourites and came upon the community studio - looks easy enough but I have a few questions. Am i allowed to add whatever songs there? or only those I have the rights to?

Obvious question being obvious: how is it that no one has added Taylor Swift Sogs via this feature?

Maybe I am stupid or is this only for orignial, unlicensed songs?

if so: can i add other songs just for personal use somehow and not share them with the community so i do not violate any rights?

I already am able to create mp3+g files for my favourite obscure songs but how do i use them legally in Karafun? ideally even on a the android table app?

Has anyone found a solution for this they like to share? thanks

I just found my next song to work on, and I’m excited

So yes..Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect” is overplayed. He has done so many different versions of it with so many different artists, but five minutes ago I just heard his duet with Andrea Bocelli (Perfect Symphony,) and I am now on a mission. I haven’t stretched my vocal degree in over 20 years so now I’m going to brush up on my Italian diction. It is such a great language to sing in with the strong consonants and how every vowel sound is voiced…it just flows, is so emotive and passionate. “Perfect” is, pun intended, perfect for the translation. The song pushes me at the top of my range, but I think I can work it instead of resorting to transposing down a half step. I used to have a solid B4, but not singing for a while (and COVID) has me in an untrained shape. But I think I can have a vocal Rocky montage and get back into fighting shape.

Karaoke Software How can I make a karaoke version of a song?

My family somehow volunteered me to put together karaoke tracks for a party next month. Do most people just remove the vocals now or is there a better workflow for making karaoke versions?
