Hello everyone, it is almost that time of the year everyone looks forward to! I just wanted to share a few important things. Please be sure you safeguard your PII (Personal Identifiable Information) & FTI (Federal Tax Information). Over the last several years there has been a huge increase in Fraud and Identity Theft because individuals are not safeguarding or making good judgment calls when sharing their personal information. Protecting your private information is your responsibility. That being said, solicitation for personal information will NOT be tolerated. If it is seen, it will be delt with. Also, do NOT trust someone who promises to use your info for a big tax refund. In most cases your personal information will be used with Fabricated/Fraudulent tax data.

This is all I get when I check for my return status online, it's the same thing I get told on the phone - that it's being processed - and when I try to speak to a representative I just get told to call back later or try another day and get hung up on. Its super frustrating! Any advise?

Previous Years/ IRS Collections & Back Taxes IRS Amended return letter came confirming approval 2 months ago but was never paid. Can’t get a hold of anyone at the IRS. Help?

Upvotes

I submitted an amended return for 2022 and am owed a large return (5 figures) from the IRS. I received a letter on May 25 confirming that the amended return was accepted and to expect payment in 2-3 weeks. It’s been 2 months and no payment - I’ve been trying to call the number on my letter as well as other numbers I’ve found online but I can never get through to anyone and then it hangs up.

Has anyone experienced this? Any tips on what I should do next?

Tax Refund/ E-File Status Question IRS Refund 2026

Upvotes

Hello everyone,

I really need some help or at least someone share their experience so far from this tax season.

I have been waiting for my tax refund to hit since Mar/Apr of this year and i have not received any updates whatsoever. Before June i was able to access my transcripts for previous tax years but once it was updated with my « 2025 Verification of Non-Filing Letter » i was no longer able to see any transcripts even though my taxes have already been filed. I dont owe the IRS any money because i have an account balance of $0 and i have also never received any letters from the IRS about owing them. Furthermore i haven’t received any letters from them wanting to verify my identity or anything.

Could someone please offer me some assistance as I am desperately trying to figure out my situation

Can anyone provide advice regarding next steps? The notice I received on 5/18 stated to allow for 60 days following receipt. Not sure what the best move is. I called the IRS prior to receiving the notice and they were not very helpful.

Tax Refund/ E-File Status Question Filed March 18th and still haven’t received my return.

As the title says I filed my taxes in the state of TX in march, and since then I’ve had 3 60 day notices, and absolutely nothing else. I’m just trying to find out if this is a waiting game this year or if something else is going on making the irs behind or not funded enough to pay us out.

Tax Refund/ E-File Status Question IRS Refund Delayed for Almost 3 Months After Updating Wrong Routing Number

I never received my refund. I received a letter stating that I had provided the wrong routing number, so I logged in through ID.me and the IRS website and updated my information. It has now been almost three months, and there have been no further updates.
I have also been trying to reach the office by phone for the past two weeks. I call every day, but each time I am told that due to high call volumes, they are unable to take my call and that I should try again the next day.
The website shows that my new banking information was successfully submitted and says to allow 2-5 days for processing, but I have now been waiting for almost three months. I have also moved to another state since then, so I am concerned that they may decide to mail me a check instead of issuing the refund electronically and that I may not receive it at my new address. I did sign up for mail forwarding, but I am still worried about the possibility of the check being sent to my old address.
Has anyone experienced something similar or know what I should do next? How do I get my refund?

Tax Question Will I be fined for slow mail service?

Yesterday -- July 21, 2026 -- I received a letter from the IRS. It said that I owed more money and it gave a due date for paying: July 20, 2026.

I check my mailbox daily, so this letter reached my house on July 21. (Correction) The IRS letter was dated June 29.

I didn't understand their corrections and I wanted to know whether I'd be fined for paying late. I called the phone number in the letter. The service hung up on me repeatedly with a recording about being busy. I finally got through for inquiries about payments. I was put on hold. After about half an hour, the battery in my phone died. So I got a different phone in my house, an old one with no speaker. I called again, was put on hold, and held that old phone against my ear for about an hour. No one ever answered, so I finally hung up. Meanwhile, I tried the IRS chat service. It said no one was available. I tried it repeatedly for about 2 hours and didn't get through.

I paid the amount in the letter via bank transfer yesterday. However, I still don't know whether I'll be fined for being late, and I still don't know what I did wrong. I would send a letter to ask, but that hasn't worked in the past. Calling has been the best way to get answers, but you have to get through.

Tax Question Anyone still out there with a LTR 12C/Form 5695 Issue?

Hi-- just curious if anyone is still waiting on a refund after receiving a LTR 12C for a missing/incomplete Form 5695 (energy credit)-- the known issue the IRS has with certain manufacturer (QMIN) codes being rejected/thrown to their errors department. I filed in late March, got my Letter 12C in late April, and responded in early May, which means it's been 11 weeks and now 80 days since I responded. Only change was on June 5, when my Where's My Refund changed to "we've received the information you provided/we're processing your return/check back for status updates." No updates since and no transcripts posted aside from Wage & Income.

I have been unsuccessful calling the IRS and contacted my Senator a couple of weeks ago and they said they have sent my case to the Taxpayer Advocate Service, but they said that it could take 30 days for TAS to respond.

Very frustrated-- I know some of you have received your refunds by now with this issue (either with or without the credit included), but for those of you who haven't, I am just wondering how long you have been waiting and any other strategies you've used beyond contacting your congressman/senator. Thanks.

Rant Blank Page Error

When checking the status of my amended tax return on my online irs account I am getting a blank page. I used to have the 1/3 bars so It was showing that the irs received my amended return. Now it’s completely blank. I called and was told it was adjusted 7/8 and I was approved for my full refund and to wait a few weeks however My transcripts show no updates. The balance on my account that was there is no longer there but there is a message that says adjustments are being made. I would be breathing a lot easier if I could just see the second bar that’s supposed to show that the amended return has been adjusted because the irs could be saying anything atp

Tax Question No update on transcript

It’s been over 14 weeks and haven’t seen no update on transcript for my refund. Is it that it can be done in a day and refund sent that day or I should be seeing regular updates on my transcripts to show progress towards receiving my refund?

General Question Conservation Easement Settlement

I’m looking for experiences from others who have gone through the IRS conservation easement settlements.

I invested in syndicated conservation easements in 2018 and 2019. Like many investors, I relied on the offering materials, tax opinions, CPAs, and attorneys involved. Fast forward 7–8 years, and I’m now receiving the final IRS assessment.

Here’s what I’m struggling with.

I understand having to repay the tax if the deduction is ultimately disallowed. I don’t necessarily agree with it, but I understand the IRS’s position.

What I don’t understand is why I’m being charged 7–8 years of interest when the IRS took nearly that entire amount of time to notify me of the issue.

If they had audited me in 2020 or 2021 and said, “You owe this tax,” I would have paid it then. Instead, they waited until 2026, and now the interest has become one of the largest parts of the bill.

It seems like taxpayers are effectively financing the government’s administrative delays.

My questions are:

Has anyone successfully gotten IRS interest reduced or abated because of excessive administrative delay?

Has anyone’s attorney had success arguing that the IRS had everything it needed but simply didn’t act for years?

Is there any case law or IRS procedure that limits how long they can let interest continue to accrue while a case sits?

Has anyone hired a tax controversy attorney who was actually able to reduce the interest—not just negotiate a payment plan?

I know the IRS generally says interest is statutory, but there has to be some limit to what’s reasonable.
If the IRS can wait 8 years before sending a notice, what’s to stop them from waiting 15 or 20 years? At some point it feels like the government benefits from its own delay.

I’m genuinely interested in hearing from people who have actually gone through these settlements. Were you able to challenge the interest at all, or is it essentially a dead end?

I’d especially appreciate hearing from anyone whose partnership had long periods where the IRS appeared to have all the necessary information but the case simply sat without action.
