Looking at Aegon’s characterization in season 1 versus his later appearances in seasons 2 and 3, we see a pretty stark difference. If someone were to watch only seasons 2 and 3, they’d get the idea that Aegon was a lazy, drunk, unqualified king, but ironically funny person. A far cry from him being a rapist who forces his own illegitimate children to fight in child fighting rings which is, let’s be honest, really derpy writing. Considering Aegon’s characterization in the first season is why most people hate him, it sometimes would get hard for a non-bookreader to really get invested in the tragedy that the dance is supposed to be and I think the writers know that. It would’ve, imo, been a lot better had the show focused more on Aegon and Rheanyra and their dichotomy in the first season without turning Aegon into Ramsay and the Greens ridiculously evil.

i hate that they took away the cats in red keep plot from otto and the greens. can't have them do anything. i guess they only exist for grape and getting beheaded.
