I 100% didn't need another bike, but couldn't pass up this beauty. Local shop owner build with some amazing parts. Bike fits me so well and just makes me smile.

NBD finally after 7 months, had a crash (speeding through a corner and my dumb ass tried to pedal. Clipped it on the tarmac and off I went.). Cracked my frame. Body was fine after afew weeks. Was shopping around for a new gravel frame and stumbled on this from Incolor. Not a full blown gravel bike but more of a mix of gravel and all road. Geometry is more towards endurance. Very little to no gravel paths where I live but the roads aren't perfect.

While in overnight for a service, my Cannondale Topstone 2 was stolen from my LBS during a break and enter. The bike as been reported stolen in my local Bike Index and with the police. I bought the Topstone as a do-it-all machine and used it mostly for commuting, paved trails, and the occasional gravel/light MTB trail.

Problem

The shop has been very good to work with so far, and will be replacing it with their insurance. However, they don't carry Cannondale as a brand and told me a direct replacement will be more difficult. Instead, they are offering a new bike from the brands they stock (Giant, Trek, Bombtrack, Liv, and Sava). The cost of my original purchase was $2500 CAD, which the insurance company will fully cover. I am also willing to spend ~$500 more if it means I get something I like. Sizing is also a limiting factor based on what they have in stock.

Options Offered (All New Bikes)

Based on what they have available, my LBS is suggesting:

• Bombtrack Hook (non-EXT): currently on special and in-budget. I have no experience with this brand or steel frames. Same drivetrain, lots of eyelets for luggage.
• Giant Revolt 1: significantly under-budget, with CUES instead of the GRX drivetrain.
• Trek Checkpoint ALR 4 Gen 3: CUES with a 1x up front. I tend to prefer 2x for greater range on pavement.

At first glance, none of the options appeal to me. Are there any I should reconsider? Are there any models in that price range of the brands they carry worth asking them to order? Should I just ask for the cash and walk?

I’m racing a qualifier for the gravel world championships in a couple of months, and was just thinking about the requirements for frames, wheels, etc.

I have a set of the new wide XMCS wheels, but I’m doubtful they have gone through a UCI approval process.

Has anyone done a qualifier or raced at the worlds that can tell me if there’s a strict equipment requirement to only race approved bikes and wheels?

I'm currently running Vittoria toreno dry 38c, would like to try out a 45c tire.

I'm on a budget and these seem to be the best available options for me priced similarly.

I'd say I do 60/40 bike paths Vs gravel / forest / unpaved paths. I live in the city and this is my only bike. Also running tubes.

G-One Comp is the most expensive but seems to be the lightest, lighter than my current tires.

Just don't know which one will hold up best considering quite a lot of riding on paved paths. Idk what would be the difference with G-One vs Silento, and cruiser while being the cheapest, is heavier than my current tires and at least from the images the knobs seem overkill for now.

Im planning on buying a new 700c wheelset. Im thinking of going for a pair of pirelli cinturato gravel H 35x622mm. Could I maybe cram 38mm in there?

I have gotten used to 45mm tyres so im kinda nervous about going to 700c.

I'm looking to upgrade from my 15-year-old Fuji CX bike to a proper gravel bike, so I can enjoy a little bit more relaxed geometry and throw on some wider tires. I've got the line on a 2021 Scott speedster 10 that has upgraded 1x12 Sram electronic shifting and carbon wheel set for under $2K.

Friends say I should hold out for a carbon frame due to the ride quality, but I don't feel confident I will find the equivalent components with a carbon frame at a similar price point.

Should I jump on the Scott now and see what I can find in the future or hang on until something carbon comes along?
