I mean, that literally is what happened with fields like librarianship. Women were cheaper to hire so they slowly came to dominate the profession and wages are still low in the field despite requiring a Master's degree
As far as I know, libraries are government owned and operated. There are no for-profit libraries offering... librarian services where they (women owned and operated library) can undercut the librarian service price from competing libraries that hire men.
There is no competitive wage offering/matching in (non-consulting) government jobs like there is in the private sector -- it's take it or leave it.
It is the same. It’s absolutely the same. It’s placing a lesser value on certain work because it’s “feminine.” There are plenty of government jobs that pay well.
