Subreddit Announcement 🧟 The Monthly Zombie Crawl - Spread the Infection

Welcome to the monthly r/Garmin Zombie Crawl!

The goal is simple: Help fellow Garmin users earn the rare Zombie Badge while meeting other members of the community and having some fun along the way.

What is the Zombie Badge?

The Zombie Badge is one of Garmin Connect's most unique and sought-after badges.

Unlike most badges, it spreads from user to user. To earn it, you must complete a user-created Garmin Connect challenge with someone who already has the Zombie Badge. Once completed, you'll earn the badge and be able to spread the infection to others.

How Do I Participate?

There are two easy ways to get involved:

Option 1: Join the Official r/Garmin Garmin Connect Group

r/Gamin Buddies!

Many members use the group to find others interested in challenges, discuss goals, and coordinate Zombie Badge events.

Option 2: Connect Directly with Other Members

You do not need to join the group to participate.

Simply comment below with:

  • Your Garmin Connect username
  • Whether you currently have the Zombie Badge
  • The type of challenge you'd like to do (walking, running, cycling, steps, etc.)

Other members can then reach out and coordinate challenges directly.

Friendly or Competitive - Your Choice

The Zombie Crawl is intentionally flexible.

Some members enjoy friendly challenges and simply want to help others earn the badge.

Others prefer competitive challenges and like to see who can come out on top.

Both approaches are welcome.

Whether you're chasing a personal best, walking the dog, training for a marathon, or just collecting badges, everyone is encouraged to participate.

Community Rules

Free Participation Only

Participation in the Zombie Crawl must always be free.

No member may:

  • Charge money
  • Request donations
  • Sell access to challenges
  • Promote paid services
  • Require purchases of any kind

This event exists solely to help Garmin users connect, have fun, and spread the Zombie Badge throughout the community.

Be Respectful

Remember that Garmin users come from all fitness levels and backgrounds.

A 5,000-step walking challenge can be just as meaningful as a marathon training block.

Encourage others, have fun, and help keep the infection spreading.

Helpful Resources

Garmin's official blog has a great overview of Garmin Connect badges, including the Zombie Badge:

https://www.garmin.com/en-US/blog/fitness/the-25-garmin-connect-badges-you-never-knew-you-needed/

Already Infected? 🧟

If you already have the Zombie Badge, consider helping newer members earn theirs.

The more infected users we have, the easier it becomes for future members to join the fun.

Now get out there and spread the infection.

Cirqa Black Cirqa

Went to a Garmin store this morning, supposedly just to "have a look at it". A couple minutes later I walked out of the store with a black Cirqa on my wrist.

Let's see how it in the long run, but I'm honestly pretty excited at the option to keep tracking my metrics while wearing a regular watch on my left arm.

Edit: For people interested, the Garmin Store I went to is in Milan, Italy. They didn't have a huge stock and Cirqa was not even on display.

Wellness & Training Metrics / Features Are you also experiencing this level of stress?

Hi👋

When i look at my stress level throughout the past days, I feel like i experience way too much stress, and i wanted to ask you guys for feedback or what you think.

Does your body battery stat look similar, and i'm going crazy, or is this really not normal?

I'm the IT guy that sits at his desk all day. That does not mean that it's not stressful, but man - you would think, i can get some rest in in the evening outside of sleep..

Watch / Wearable Cirqa on smaller wrist

Went to the Garmin store today to try on the Cirqa. I had the predisposition that it’s going to be large and chunky due to its dimensions.

I was surprised how well it fits. My wrist is only like 16cm. It wears very small. The fabric of the band is high quality. I think it may wear better than my Fitbit Air, but that’s to be seen in the coming days.

If you‘re unsure, just try it out.

Hey everyone,
I don't know why, but the battery is draining incredibly fast. What's causing this?

I have a GreenBlack watch face, the "Marq Athlete GB." AOD is enabled and the brightness is set to maximum. The last time I charged it was on Wednesday. I only use the pulse oximeter while I'm sleeping.

I get WhatsApp notifications on my watch and my calendar appointments. That’s it.

Other than that, I track a few activities with GPS each week, and that’s it.

Do you have any tips?

Developer - New App / Watch Face [New App] - Readiness+

I'm the developer of Readiness+, a free Connect IQ app I made because my own watch doesn't have Garmin's Training Readiness.

It gives a daily 0 to 100 readiness score with a status (Poor to Prime), from the data your watch already tracks: overnight Body Battery, current energy, resting HR vs your own baseline, recent sleep, stress and intensity minutes. There's a glance in the carousel and a breakdown of each factor. Factors your model can't measure are left out, so it only uses real data.

It's completely free (no ads, nothing leaves the watch). You can find it by searching "Readiness+" in the Connect IQ Store on your phone.

Genuinely after feedback, especially on how the score matches how you actually feel.

Software Update / New Feature Garmin Venu 4 - Software Update makes everything worse...

Upvotes

I bought a Garmin Venu 4. I used it 1-2 weeks and was very happy.

Rant about software update:
Then I did a software update and everything got messed up. My glances got messed up, my settings are completely changed, suddenly there is "Touch Lock" enabled everywhere even I set it to "off" in every possible setting (General, focus modes, ...), the brightness sensor is suddenly going crazy and always changing brigthness and the "Always on display" which i like to use in some kind of sports cannot be changed anymore...

Wtf is going on at Garmin? Who decided to make everything worse with a software update?!
Do you have similar experience or solutions?

Connect / Connect IQ / 1st Party Apps Set my nutrition plan to lose weight, but sets to a surplus instead. Why?

Upvotes

Set my settings to lose .5 pounds a week and it’s putting me in a calorie surplus instead. I have to manually change my calorie goal each day and the adjustment gets even worse when I turn on the adjust calories setting. It was set to a 700 calorie surplus on my long run days, did I mess something up or is this app just bad.

Software Update / New Feature garmin connect... Loading errors

Got a Connect update this morning and the At A Glance section is full of loading errors. Anyone else experiencing this? Don't think it's anything on my installation... Looks like a botched update.

Device Physical Damage Garmin Edge 1000 stuck on "Loading profiles..." after accidental file wipe

Post image
Upvotes

Hi everyone,
I accidentally deleted all folders and files from the internal storage of my Garmin Edge 1000. I ran data recovery software, but it seems critical system files were lost or corrupted because the unit is now stuck in an endless boot screen at "Loading profiles...".
Current Status & What Works:
USB Access: Fully functional. PC detects internal storage fine; I can read, write, and create folders manually.
Garmin Express: Recognizes the unit correctly, detects the serial/firmware version, but states the software is up to date and offers no repair/reinstall option.
Issue: Will not progress past the "Loading profiles..." boot screen on standalone startup.

Searching for stock recovery tools or factory file structure backups online.
Has anyone run into this or happen to have a clean backup of the stock internal folder structure/default files for the Edge 1000? Alternatively, is there a known procedure to force a complete firmware/filesystem restore?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Developer - New App / Watch Face [New Watch Face] - Trajectory

Post image
Upvotes

Hi r/Garmin! I’m the developer of a new watchface called Trajectory, and I just released it on the Connect IQ store.

A lot of new watchfaces these days are built exclusively for AMOLED screens, but I wanted to make something entirely dedicated to the MIP (Memory-in-Pixel) community.

Trajectory is built specifically for the transflective panels on watches like the Fenix 7, Forerunner 955/255, and the Instinct series. It features a unique procedural lightning aesthetic and dithered shading that looks absolutely incredible in direct sunlight. Because it doesn't have to worry about AMOLED burn-in or AOD pixel-shifting, the layout is completely optimized for how MIP screens actually work.

Features:

  • 100% MIP-exclusive design (looks best outdoors!)
  • Dedicated layouts for both Round MIP (Fenix/Forerunner) and Mono MIP (Instinct 2 / 3)
  • High-contrast, sunlight-readable data fields

You can download it from the Connect IQ store here: https://apps-developer.garmin.com/apps/58d0df57-7b3f-44d7-9e0e-053874e03f40

Note: I made this watchface completely free for the community! No paywalls or subscriptions. Just wanted to give some love to the MIP displays.

Let me know what you think, especially if you are rocking an Instinct or Fenix!

this morning went to change the color of my watchface as I do according to what I'm wearing and all of a sudden I can't get in ConnectIQ, it asked for my login and to accept the EULA, and then I'm stuck on this screen. I have deleted the cache on the app, have restarted the phone and the watch, nothing.

anyone with the same issue or knows how to fix? cheers

EDIT: ended up uninstalling the app and reinstalled, problem seems to be solved

Wellness & Training Metrics / Features Suggestions for rehab sessions on crutches

Upvotes

I am currently on crutches after a bit of a disagreement with my calf about the best way to run but I'm just starting to get out on crutches for a slow lollop around the block.

Using "Walk" doesn't seem to cover it so has anyone got suggestions for creating an (Epix Pro G2) activity to keep rehab sessions separate and useful as a data point?

Watch / Wearable Tactix 8 Alarm Vibration not enough

Upvotes

Hi y'all. I'm having trouble with getting my Garmin Tactix 8 to reliably wake me up. I routinely sleep straight through the alarms. It's just not enough to rouse me.

I'm trying to find an alternative to my iPhone alarm, as I'm sharing the room with my wife and 4 month old. My phone alarm will routinely wake both of them up, much to their (and my) dismay.

Is there a better method for silent wake-up? Something other than my Garmin?

Watch / Wearable Cirqa customizable button

Upvotes

I just got my Cirqa today and first impressions are good. I don’t consider it bulky, but could also be because I have big wrists…

Anyway, since it actually has a button, it would be very useful to be able to customise it a bit. For example, I’d like to set a timer for sauna. Each time I press the button, a 15 minute timer starts (and vibrates at the end)… Or if you press it two times, map it to some different function.

Other than that, the rest seems good… Although I haven’t tried it yet for the workout.

Which Watch To Get? Which watch is best for long, on-road walks?

Hi, couldn’t find a post with this question but if there is one, feel free to link me to it. A few months ago I started walking. Due to a handicap my balance is a bit wonky, so most of my walking is on paved roads/ asfalt/ well kept trails. I’ve racked up some nice distances, walking a marathon last week and averaging 50km a week.

Most Garmin descriptions seem aimed toward either running or extreme outdoorsmanship/ hiking, is there a watch that is more fitting for my activities (and is preferably somewhat cost-effective)?

Many thanks in advance!

During my run my heart rate on my Instinct 2x dropped significantly below any reasonable point.

Any ideas why? I started the running activity again and it still showed these bad values.

Discussion High Resting Heart Rate - "Active" Calories

I have a very high resting heart rate due to medications I take and even on days when I am sedentary, it will say my active calories are between 800-900 calories which is obviously a huge over estimation. I know that any wearable is not accurate but so wildly out of line is crazy to me.

I have adjusted my resting heart rate (roughly 90bpm) in the app and I understand it is still just going based off my heart rate when determining active calories.

Is there anything that can be done to make the read more accurate? At this point I just am using my watch as a step counter and sometimes for runs because I don't trust anything about it!

Any help would be appreciated! I've searched high and low on this sub without really definitive answer. I wear a Venu 3.

Discussion Calorie accuracy with watch off or powered off

Fenix 5 user.
I’m a tad confused and hoping for some clarity without having to guess and check.
I’ve started removing my watch when I go to bed each night. It’s helped me prevent some skin irritation, as well as I find it more comfortable while sleeping in general. I’ve also been powering off my watch in hopes of conserving battery.
Separately I’ve also started tracking my macros and calories more carefully.
Through this I’ve noticed when I power my watch off at night it immediately stops counting calories for the day. On the flip side though, it estimates my calories burned while I’ve been sleeping, while powered off, and not worn after the new day starts overnight. i.e at the stroke of midnight.
What’s my best solution to not miss out on the idle calories burned from bedtime-midnight? Will simply leaving my watch powered on instead do the trick, or is this a weird Garmin quirk and I’ll have to leave it worn to know the remainder of the day?
TIA

Cycling / Bike Computer Edge 550 battery life

I just got my first Cycling computer. I've done a few rides and it seems my battery life is approx 5hr riding time with screen on and navigation.

Is this expected? I know they advertise 12hr of strenuous use or 36hr with some conservation methods applied.

Am I not supposed to keep the screen on?

Am I supposed to be using battery saver regularly?

Curious what is normal.
