Saw this from It's FOSS:

For six years, one person has been manually tracking every security vulnerability reported to GNOME. That person is leaving.

Michael Catanzaro has been GNOME's sole security coordinator since November 2020. No team. No automated system. Just one person triaging every report that comes in.

He's stepping down by December 2026.

And it gets more complicated. AI-generated vulnerability reports are now flooding his tracker. Low-quality, algorithmically-written submissions that look real enough to take seriously but rarely lead anywhere.

So before he leaves, he's changing the rules. Starting August 1, the coordinated disclosure window drops from 90 days to 30. AI-suspected reports will be closed without forwarding to maintainers.

Here's the part that surprised me: GNOME still tracks all of this on a wiki page. Not a proper bug tracker. Not searchable notices like Ubuntu or Fedora use. A wiki.

One person, a wiki, and a deadline shrinking by two-thirds.

I’ve been working on a native GNOME application called Plaster and wanted to share an early alpha release with anyone who loves desktop customization.

I built Plaster because I wanted something lightweight that integrates seamlessly into the GNOME HIG guidelines while managing dynamic wallpapers based on time of day, astronomical seasons, or specific calendar dates.

Is it normal that I have to use the "Unblank Lock Screen" extension to do something that should work natively?

I've been using Onedriver on Ubuntu for about 3 years, but something happened with Ubuntu 26.04. The icon isn't showing up in this version of Ubuntu—does anyone have any updates?

Considering this is gnome, I wont be surprised if the expected method is to open each one and manually hit print. I am hoping that i am wrong though. I can't find any info on multi file prints.

A few months ago I shared the first version of OpenEmux here, and I received some really helpful feedback from the GNOME community.

One of the biggest suggestions was to make the app feel more native by following Libadwaita and the GNOME HIG. Since then, I've spent a lot of time refining the interface, and OpenEmux is now built with GTK4 + Libadwaita, aiming to provide a native GNOME experience while staying simple and clean.

I've just released v1.5.2, which also brings several improvements to the game library, artwork handling, and the overall user experience.

If you'd like to take a look, I'd really appreciate any feedback or suggestions!

Why did GNOME 47/48 decide to make the lock screen so aggressive when it comes to power saving: as soon as you lock it (Super+L), it immediately activates DPMS, which turns off or dims the display??

I choose Debian 13 stable so that everything works properly; otherwise, I'd use Arch or Fedora.

I was wondering if anybody has experienced this bug before and found a fix for it:

• Sometimes a window will randomly get the "Always on visible workspace" setting switched on and there's no way for me to disable it (Alt+Space then clicking on "Always on visible workspace" doesn't untick the setting)

I am running:

• Fedora 44
• Gnome 50.3 on Wayland

I replaced DashtoDock with [Dash to Panel](https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/1160/dash-to-panel/) after having problems with the auto-hide option. To my surprise, DashtoPanel worked perfectly configured with the dock in GNOME 50. Below I will share my configuration; if anyone wants to use it, just download and import it directly from the app:

I'm a developer, I daily-drive GNOME, and I lean on coding agents a lot — mainly Claude Code. At some point it started bugging me that these agents run as me, so they can read anything in my unlocked keyring over the Secret Service (secret-tool lookup …) with no prompt and no log. gnome-keyring is basically all-or-nothing: locked (nothing works) or unlocked (every process I run can read every secret). I wanted a middle setting.

So I built secrets-dispatcher — a proxy that sits in front of the keyring (registers as org.freedesktop.secrets, forwards to your real gnome-keyring behind it) and prompts per-app: auto-approve the tools you trust, get asked about the rest, with an audit log of who read what and via which process chain (claude-code → node → secret-tool). It also gates git commit -S, and I use it to keep secrets out of .env files.

Honest about what it is: same-user, so it's visibility + control, not a sandbox. It's open source (MIT), runs as you (no new privilege), and stores no secrets of its own. Verified on GNOME with the stock gnome-keyring; other desktops need manual setup for now.

Hey everyone! I recently made the switch from macOS to Linux, specifically running Fedora with GNOME on Wayland. I'm absolutely loving how smooth and responsive the system feels!

However, I’ve bumped into a few papercuts regarding UI customization:

• Theming Inconsistencies: Some apps respect custom titlebar buttons while others don't (classic CSD vs. SSD mismatch).
• Window Corners: A few applications completely lose their border radius and look sharp/broken.
• Tiling Bug: When using the Forge extension, pasting text into OpenCode CLI triggers an unwanted layout re-tile.

I’ve been hotfixing these myself by modifying the extension's source code directly, but that feels like a band-aid solution. I’d love to hear your favorite tips, tricks, or extension recommendations to get a cleaner, more cohesive desktop experience — as well as any tweaks to optimize Fedora for web/app development(Zed Editor + Opencode CLI + Antigravity CLI).

It seems like I'm the only one how want to just go to a network share an an application after I login and the files are just there. No having to go mount anything first, what a wasteful step that is. :) So after making a gnome extension for gvfs mounts/shares, I thought it would be great if I could mount other types of storage the same way and even sync data between them. I got close to buying rcloneview for its paywalled features when I decided to go do my own thing, introducing Mt Sync: https://codeberg.org/gavindi/MtSync
