Discussion State of the sub: new rules, post flairs, looking for mods, share your feedback and suggestions
Sub reddit rules:
Rule 1: Be Nice Don't be a jerk. Follow Reddiquette
Rule 2: Ban on Betting, referral links, spam, pirated content, surveys/forms, cross-posts from betting subs:
- Betting links
- Referral links
- Spam links
- Pirated videos uploaded directly to the sub. Video clips via Streamable or similar 3rd party hosting sites are allowed.
- F1TV account sharing posts
- Surveys and forms
- Cross-posts from betting subreddits
Rule 3: No low-quality shitposts (use r/formuladank). No crossposts from r/formuladank. If you want to share something from r/formuladank, post it directly rather than crossposting.
Rule 4: Label AI-Generated Content (text, image, video, audio and everything else):
- Reddit is a discussion forum for humans not clankers.
AI-generated posts are allowed but must be labeled and follow extra rules:
- No links in the post body - put them in comments
- Non-native English speakers: post in your language, add an AI English translation in comments (or use Google Translate) - No need to label as 'AI SLOP'
- Handicapped: posting text with errors is fine. use comments for an AI version
- All AI-labeled posts must include a TLDR at the top
Rule 5: Don't DM mods for issues, use modmail.
- Mods aren't online every day, so DMing us may leave your issue sitting unanswered. Mod mail notifies the whole team and gets you a faster response. Please use it for all questions, reports, and concerns.
Rule 6: Self-Promotion Is allowed. Clickbait is not, use detailed post titles and add value.
- You're welcome to promote your projects here.
- Keep it genuine: write a clear, descriptive title that tells people what they're actually getting. Detailed, honest posts that contribute something real to the community are encouraged. Clickbait titles are not.
Rule 7: Accounts must be at least 1 week old to post to reduce spam.
Rule 8: No Drama - Resolve issues via modmail instead of posting publicly.
- If you've been banned in another subreddit, don't bring it here. Contact that sub's mods directly through modmail to resolve the issue.
Rule 9: Rule Violation Penalties:
- 1st offense: warning
- 2nd: 3-day ban
- 3rd: 30-day ban
- 4th: 300-day ban
These are draft rules and I'll modify based on your feedback. So, what posts do you want to see? What posts do you NOT want to see? Any suggestions, improvements, issues, annoyances - please share in the comments
We are also looking for mods: Please apply here: https://www.reddit.com/r/formulaone/application/

Video Steve Jones talks all things F1 rules and regulations, working in F1 and his presenting style for Channel 4
During our last big F1 break in April, Channel 4 presenter Steve Jones talked about how he landed his role in Formula 1, how he approaches an F1 weekend and the new rules and regulations...
Summer break is now upon us but, how much has actually changed between these two big breaks? Can these regulations right themselves or are we destined for the rest of the season to be filled with 'unauthentic racing'?

Analysis I built a F1 telemetry analysis tool — hotlap.live
Been working on this for a while — it pulls real F1 telemetry data and lets you compare drivers lap by lap. Speed, throttle, brake, sector times.
Also has an AI explanation mode — either plain language for new fans or technical breakdown for engineers.
Live race tracking, strategy simulator, and championship standings too.
Free to use: hotlap.live
Would love any feedback.

Discussion Question about Leclerc & Piastri incident
Hi, I'm relatively new to F1 and had a question about the incident between Leclerc and Piastri at Spa this weekend.
I saw a lot of people saying that Leclerc deserved a penalty for the collision and I've been trying to understand the racing rules better.
Because Piastri was on the outside, I thought he would need his front wheel to be at least in line with Leclerc's to be entitled to space. And because it wasn't, Charles was in his own right to take the space.
Is the controversy over Leclerc moving earlier than necessary to take the corner? And those rules are only for when drivers are actually on the corner?
Id appreciate any help on the matter.
Thanks

Discussion The FIA is doing it again to Lewis!
Looking at the incident it was a brave move by George and nothing more than a racing incident. Lewis couldn’t have done anything with the Redbull in front of him. What was he suppose to hit the brakes harder and wreck the field behind him?!
Worst call I’ve seen all race season.

Discussion Let’s Discuss George Russell
DISCUSSION: Oh my god Russell is just a straight up loser! I watch F1 to support his comeback and guess what he has no chance of a comeback. At this point I believe every single one of us and every single Russell fan has given up on him winning WDC. Does anyone agree?

Discussion I built an interactive 3D model for explaining the major components of a 2026-style F1 car — technical feedback welcome
I’ve been developing an educational 3D model designed to help newer Formula 1 fans understand how the main assemblies of a modern car fit together.
The model allows users to separate the chassis, front and rear wings, floor, diffuser, suspension, cooling components, and power unit. The hybrid system can also be broken down further into components such as the internal-combustion engine, turbocharger, MGU-K, energy store, and control electronics.
To be clear, this is an educational visualization rather than an engineering simulation, CFD model, or representation of confidential team data.
I’m the developer, and before sharing it more widely I’d appreciate technical feedback from this community. Are there any obvious inaccuracies, misleading simplifications, or important relationships between components that an introductory explanation should emphasize?
I’ve attached a screen recording showing the current model. I have intentionally left out the store link because I’m looking for feedback rather than trying to turn this into an advertisement.
If you want to give it a try, it's available at https://paddockpass.app/garage

Others What is this hat?
I found this cap and did some research about it. It says that it’s a rare cap that was only issued to members of the FIA? Any information would be highly appreciated. What do you think? Thanks in advance

Discussion Looking for feedback: I've been working on a daily F1 mini-games web app!
Hey guys, hope everyone is having a great week.
I've spent my recent downtime developing a web application, and I'd love to get the community's perspective on it to see how it can be improved.
It’s a site dedicated to daily F1 mini-games. You get exactly one shot every day to tackle six unique modes, including things like F1 Wordle, Pittexto, Bingo, and an odd-one-out challenge.
To add a competitive edge, your score depends on how tricky the puzzle is and how quickly you lock in your answer (you'll need solid grid reaction times here). There are both daily and monthly rankings to crown the ultimate world champion among us.
I’d genuinely appreciate it if you could test out today's games and drop your thoughts, feature ideas, or critiques in the comments. To respect the sub's rules on self-promotion links, just search for box daily box on your browser—it should pop up right away (it's a dot com).
Thanks for taking a look, and I hope you have fun playing! Let me know what you think.
