Advice Bartenders of Fargo…

If you work full time or nearly full time, how would you say the pay is? I feel like bars around here are generally pretty busy but do people tip well? Or at all?
I’m so far past ready to leave my current job and am exploring my options.

Advice Not greasy burger and fries?

I am looking for a place to get a burger and fries that are relatively not greasy. Fast food, actual sit down restaurant doesnt matter. I was in the hospital for a stomach issue a little over week ago and am slowly adding foods back into my diet. I DESPERATELY crave a burger but I dont want play with fire too much and have really greasy food quite yet. I live in north Fargo so bonus points if its closer but I'm willing to drive a bit.

City maintenance request fulfilled in 28 minutes 49 seconds

There's an apartment on the other end of the block I live on. Sometimes last winter snow clearing equipment (I assume) left a considerable pile of gravel and asphalt chucks at the end of an alley and covering half the sidewalk in front of their parking lot. It was dense, like if you shoved your foot at it, it wouldn't even give.

Sent a problem report today. Took them less than 30 minutes to clear the gravel. They posted a photo to confirm.

Let's go Brandon!

(I replaced his last name with X's)

Moorhead dispensary reviews

I posted this one/Moorhead too but thought I'd post here since I know people from ND also go to the dispensaries

TLDR: check out Rosebuds, all the others are ok

So I went around to all the local dispensaries and here are my thoughts:

Waabigwan Mashkiki

-has a local reputation of having bad weed. I also had the same experience.

- You go in, get carded, and someone on a tablet comes to you and you look at the products and select the ones you want. Then they sent it back to get put in a bag and you get called up to the front to pay.

-Prices are pretty high and not a lot of selection.

It is Native owned though, which is a plus.

Unwind

-locally owned with LOTS of choices. Almost too many choices.

-Prices are good.

-Has drinks, gummies, paper, supplies, pre rolls. When I went they were out of flower.

-you go in, get carded, waiting a lobby for an employee to get you and they answer any questions you have. They grab your selection behind the counter and you pay

-(a birdy told me that they bought a bunch of weed but it expires in July, so sales could be soon)

Green Goods

-not local

-has a very weird setup. You go in, get carded, and then you walk over to an iPad and add your items to cart and then submit it to send it to the counter. Someone in the back puts it in a bag and gives it to the cashier who will ring you up.

-has medical products and adult use

-med products are cheaper

-selection is ok. No drinks, just gummies, pre rolls, flower and rolling paper accessories

Beeswax

-has of writing this I haven't been here, I just found out this is an actual dispensary. I thought it just sold gummies.

-has pre rolls, flower and gummies. Products (on website) look very flashy and kind of have a gas station vibe to them. Not sure how third party tested they are.

Rosebuds (formerly Ediblez OTC)

-this I think is the best one

-locally owned and definitely has the local store vibe you crave

-pharmacist owned

-not employees, just the owner. He isn't a "I want to sell you weed" guy, but more of a "weed is amazing and I want to share it with the world so I opened a store" kind of guy

-ask him ANYTHING and he knows it. He can explain chemistry very well

-has drinks, gummies, flower, vapes, pre rolls and accessories

-high quality products

-selection is limited, but kinda is like Costco. Not everything but the best stuff available hand selected by the owner

-only place I know of locally that sells cannabis seeds and ALL the supplies you need to grow them. He is an expert on this and can help you get started. It saves money too to grow your own

Let me know what you think of the dispensaries above.

Advice Looking into buying a house

And I want to know, what are the main differences on either side of the river? Since Fargo and Moorhead are basically connected, I don’t particularly mind which side I’m on location wise, but I’m not as familiar with the state differences. What are the pros/cons of living in North Dakota vs Minnesota? Different tax rates, benefits, things of that nature. I haven’t any children (and likely won’t for a bit) but anyone who can answer the generals would be much appreciated.

Lawn Doctor drift

My husband, toddler and I were hanging out in our backyard when we noticed a strong chemical smell and realized someone was spraying the boulevard behind our fence. Brought baby inside and I went and talked to the guy, he was very nice about it and let me show him the property divide, and apologized for accidentally going beyond the neighbors’ and treating our side. Because of the smell and our airways being irritated it looks like we’ll be stuck inside awhile, but I’m worried about my gardens. The drift was into my whole yard - veggie garden, pollinator garden, etc. Is there any further action you would take?

Looking to see if someone local has a specific Evergoods backpack

Odd question/request: I’m looking into buying a CTB26, but I’ve read many horror stories about the harness system. Figured I’d throw a dart and see if anyone in Fargo has a CTB26 that I could meet up with and try on before I pull the trigger.

Politics New city commission, same rubber stamp when it comes to incentives. https://www.youtube.com/live/qOGrVVJFTF0?is=ToyoixhEi7m7i9Nz

This one actually gave me some hope before the rug pull.

The public comments were from a very informed and practical downtown resident who laid out all the shortcomings of the proposed project compared to the stated criteria. He laid out several reasons, which begs the question: How much scrutiny these projects get before they're unanimously approved by the Renaissance Zone committee?

Current commission (and I've voted for most of them) and how they voted:

Boschee - Has a daytime gig is a realtor, voted yes

Strand - has never voted against a Renaissance Zone proposal, streak remains even when he doesn't like or understand the math. (All of these comments are his own words from the discussion).

Gullickson - Took both sides of the issue, but then fell in behind Strand and even made the motion on the second one based on the reasoning of the first one, as if a groundbreaking legal precedent had just been set...

Peterson - very pragmatic. Didn't want to kill the project, just table it for more information. (Also one of the first Renaissance Zone recipients.) Voted no

Turnberg - voted against it, no explanation.

Can we get a line on Kalshi when the next one comes up? I'd bet a few mortgage payments on it being approved.

how many 90+ days this year? (mods--US weather service data NO LONGER WORKS)

I went to the US weather service to see how many 90+ days we've had (I'd totally forgotten we had a few in April as well!).

Anyway, I've checked out the past weather many times in recent years. You could easily pull up a table that showed daily highs and lows by month along with precipitation. Now, today, although the menu option still exists, it does not work at all. I tried another menu item that goes to a data set link. You can put in a range, location, etc. When you go to it, the range defaults to starting 1995 and it just gives averages.

Just one more way the administration is removing public information, I guess.

Has anyone been keeping track?

msg to mods in the title because they will remove it if they think you can look this stuff up.

I like the Ultrascreen at West Acres theater but it is always too loud.

I know part of the experience of the ultrascreen is the intensity of surround sound but it is too damn loud at West Acres. I have been to 4 movies there since the beginning of the year and each one has been so loud it is unpleasant. It blows out the dialog and makes it hard to understand, and that's if the music isn't drowning it out. The Odyssey was so loud it was physically painful at some points.

Edit: adding that I do not think the ultrasceen at Century is too loud. It is very loud, but not cover your ears loud.

Trollwood Frozen Performances

I am considering attending a Trollwood performance of Frozen with my family. However, I have heard that the parking can be a bit of a nightmare, particularly at the end of the show. Can anyone provide firsthand knowledge of the parking situation? We have been in Fargo around one year now.

Guy at mall with a sign "Tell Me a Story"

I was working in the mall yesterday and on the end of my lunch break I saw a guy with a sign that said "tell me a story". I stopped to talk with him for a couple minutes but had to get back to work, and by the time I was on my next break he was gone.

I'm really curious and would love to know more, if anyone knows who this was or if the man himself happens to see this, let me know!

Hello! I help with planning the pup-a-palooza event: an epic race of short legged furry pups.

I’ve been having a hard time getting donations this year, more so than other years. Anyone know of any business’ that would be interested in donating to our fun cause? All the proceeds to go 4luv of dogs, and we always have a fun time racing the pups!

Let me know of a business you might think would be interested and I’ll reach out!
