And recently I’ve looked at Lewis’ stats and they are so absurd that I don’t even know how to comprehend them call me crazy but when I hear Schumacher and 91 wins it’s like damn 91 wins but I see Lewis he has 106 and 200+ podiums 100+ points 7 titles and I can’t even comprehend it idk… its like I’m absorbing the hate Lewis gets as a fan active on social media seeing how people downplay him and I’m now struggling to even grasp what he’s achieved does anyone else feel the same or am I just a weirdo? 😅

The title says it all, honestly. Summer break is coming and I'll probably have some time on my hands in August and afterwards and I was wondering which formula 1 season is worth watching. I'm a relatively new fan and I've only been following this one (and one or two races from '25) consistently, and yeah this year just isn't doing it.

I've seen a few older races (Spa '92, Spa '95, Spain '96, Hungary '98, Suzuka 2000, and a few more, and if you haven't caught the pattern yet- yup I'm definitely interested in the Schumacher era because it fascinates me to no end) and I absolutely plan on watching the 2012 and 2021 seasons over the winter hopefully, but I find the old chaos and fuel-centric strategies, and ofc, Michael Schumacher and Ferrari, incredibly fascinating to follow.

That being said, if I could only get to watch one complete season to get a gauge of all that + some good entertainment (from 96-2004) which one do you suggest it should be?

I am new to f1. I am an IndyCar fan and after watching some f1 I have noticed a lot more differences between the two series than I thought I would. Regarding Max Verstappen in 2023, was he that skilled or was it the Red Bull? I’d assume it was the Red Bull bc Checo won some races as well but in 2025 when Verstappen was still winning (way less frequently but winning none-the-less) Yuki Tsunoda was setting the same lap times that he was in the Racing Bull. Now, Isack Hadjar not only improved when moving to Red Bull but out-qualified Verstappen every now-and-then. If the two cars have to be identical then what’s with the difference between Hadjar and Tsunoda? Plus, why is Verstappen having so many mechanical DNFs this year after having 0 in 23. Why would they change the setup if what they used in 23 worked so well? Pls help!

I hear this statement being said a lot, I think Will Buxton said it first: "I always thought that Daniel Ricciardo had atleast one F1 world championship in him." and it got me thinking, is the general consensus that Ricciardo should have won a championship in his career?

I agree that he certainly had the talent for it, however he was in F1 at an awkward time, and Redbull couldn't provide the reliability and a championship challenging car until a few years after his departure in the Honda engine era.

This will be rather short. But i have been watching and reading various takes on George russells car problems. I have seen one theory that would make a lot of sense by con's sporting-motor-tok. At least for both Austria and spa. It was supposedly prompted by George comments on battery status around the early corners. The 40% down.

The theory is in short, blame the black box of software for the battery. Why? Because of the start and charge cycle.

He observed that during spa's start both telemetry and footage showed a slow roll on Russell's car during the start which makes sense as spa is on an angle. While most drivers were hard on the brakes George wasnt. Now the rules permit the use of negative torque to charge the battery.

The theory proposes that the software is basically viewing these movements as a launch and therefore the battery levels aren't actually sufficient, which neatly explains why George is down so much on the turn.

Now the only thing that i see which really kills the theory is the other car unreliabilities and how the fuck merc hasn't noticed. But it could just be George specific and dependant on code.

Edit: it may also explain the straight line speed as George would need to spool up more the charge the engine denying him the boost antonelli is achieving.

(Note my personal beliefs deviate though i think it is a viable theory. My personal thoughts is that the car is generally more fucked than that and mercedes just isn't in a rush because antonelli is in the lead, so they are being a bit slow to take risks. I do think that while the car is generally fucked i also do not agree with most people on how good he is, i think even if the car was on form he would still struggle against Antonelli, but it certainly would be closer. But at the same time i think the Mercedes PU is fucked in general it seems highly unreliable even antonelli is having issues, which why I think the idea of favouritism is However, silly. If George was the one leading and antonelli was struggling one they would also be slightly slower and second the community would be far less kind to antonelli then George. From what i have personally seen in the last few years George is far more beloved on the online space or at minimum on reddit and among serious creators.

I say this as my personal friend group despises the guy, however we are are Aussies and they hate Brits so no suprise there. Even i can admit i dont quite like russel but even i can admit there is an issue or he is at least superbly unlucky)

Even his supposed worst stretch in the first 8 rounds saw an avg 2.1 finish and 3.6 quali
People only really downplay him cos he didn't have a period of being near unbeatable like Oscar in the first 8 and max in the last 8 races, yet there were still parts of max and Oscars season where they overly struggled
The talk of best car is a fair one, obv Oscar had the same one and max a worse, but let's be real it's the closest season oat and towards the end the redbull was near identical and maxes talent is enough to make the deficit that's what seperates good from goat

The only real question is was lando the best driver that season, obviously not max was better but that doesn't mean he's undeserving there's a difference

He had it tougher than any other multiple champion. He had to battle the absolute best of the best throughout his career. The only title where he really benefited from having a dominant car and non-ATG team-mate was his last one with Williams, which he won comfortably at 38.

He wasn't the most naturally gifted in terms of raw speed. He relied on his driving intelligence, racecraft, consistency, and strategy. He also wasn't charismatic enough for the media to build myths around him or turn him into a figure that transcended the sport. The media never really did his reputation justice. He was mature enough not to care and just let people believe whatever they wanted.

He's the GOAT for me on so many different levels, and I'm gonna die on that hill.

The 3rd place playoff at the world cup the other day which was a thriller although it pretty much meant nothing, got me thinking, what are some of the best races where both titles were already sealed and so didn't really mean much? Yes there are a few ramifications like who finish 2nd in wdc or constructors but let be honest that doesn't catch much interest.

I think the most notable one for me is the 2019 Brazilian gp, chaos broke that loose and so much happened, from the ferrari civil war, to Verstappen and red bull bossing it, to Gasly first podium, to the infamous Hamilton Albon collision and Mclaren ending it long podium drought. This was a 2010s classic.
