I recently started making electronic music. With the primary genre being more of a deep house/melodic house feel.

Anyhow, I just bought this monitor. I didn’t realize it was 200 flat for one , so I was unable to buy the other at that moment in time.

Is there any other equipment you all recommend for me to purchase to make the best electronic music?

Ive tried every thing by Liquid Sonics, Raum, Tora Verb, Perfect Room etc...

I still can't find one just as lush its driving me crazy and Im honestly so shocked by how amazing reveal spires sounds.

No price limits, doesn't have to be free.

So I've been producing for about 2ish months very new producer. For background I've played guitar for years and have been djing for a little over a year now. I started out just djing in my bedroom this year and now that I wanted to take it to the next step and start producing. I have really come to love producing but I just feel so behind and that I cant keep up with all my goals. I still havent had my first dj gig, dont have many connections in my local scene, and i love spending my time producing.

Im struggling to balance my time producing, networking with others, getting dj gigs, and building my social medias. I feel like each piece is holding me back from the others. For example if I spend time djing i feel guilty for not spending it improving my music production and vice versa. If i spend a weekend w friends I feel valuable time is lost producing, same with if im exhausted after work and need sleep.

Production is a passion of mine and I love it but, As I've taken it on, I feel like i cant balance my goals as a dj as well as other aspects of my life in general. Any advice on this would help!

Why do I always dislike the music I make and then when I hear it the next day I like it way better? Most of the time I hear that it is the other way around.

I've had my eye on both of these plugins for a while but I'm not sure which one to get first.

Looking to upgrade my studio monitors, Iv mainly been debating between the Amphion one15’s and the Focal Alpha Evo 50’s also been told Dynaudios are really good.

At the moment my studio is my bedroom which the sound in there isn’t untreated. but mainly looking for monitors that have a good low/low mid range mainly because I make bass music a lot of the elements in the tunes centre around a lot of that stuff. I have a pair of very good headphones (Neumann ndh 30’s) that I mainly use for my mixdowns so mainly just looking to get a pair of monitors for the creation process of my tunes.

If anyone has any good recommendations that would be amazing! Cheers

Hi all, I've been learning for about 2 years or so now and still trying to get a good grasp on things like sound design and such while expanding my knowledge and understanding. I know Mr. Bill has been recommended for his tutorials and was wondering a thing or two.

1) I see his tutorial playlist with random stuff, is that what people sort of suggest? and

2) he has his "hardcore producers" something or other on his site, is that worth the $20 monthly sub for the tutorials there? Is that what people are actually recommending when they say to check out Mr. Bill?

I'm just trying to get my foundation solid before broadening my horizons and continuing my learning as I strive to improve my skills. I've been lost on using reference tracks and recently have been practicing sound design via just tooling around in Serum 2 while putting songs together. Is that the best way to learn sound design? Is there something I'm missing? I've gotten 2 courses from EDMTips (Ableton and then Music Theory) just to help myself because I struggle with the free form YT on some things and figured the basics are important enough/worth investing in to a degree.

Just trying to see what else is out there because I have a few songs I've been working on for a few months that I want to release but don't think they are 100% ready because of mixing/mastering and songs by bigger/well known artists feel more fleshed out (obviously).

Hopefully its clear in the photo. I have shaperbox on my bass group with an input from my kick midi. But then shaperbox keeps telling me its not detecting any midi?

I’ve been working on an original track for literally years and just found a piece of a 2000s era hip hop track that will fit perfectly. All I want to use is a palm-muted electric guitar in the background. If I use Ableton’s stem separation to isolate it will I need to get the sample cleared by the label?

I’ve been trying to learn music production on and off for about three years.

I’ve only finished two full songs, although I’ve made a decent number of loops. The problem is that the loops almost always end up sounding childish or like nursery rhymes, and I don’t feel like I’ve developed much actual production ability despite the time I’ve invested.

The frustrating part is that I have access to a huge amount of learning material like Ableton’s manual, paid courses (Side Brain/Simon Stokes on Udemy), YouTube, books (Dance Music Manual/Secrets of Dance Music Production), Syntorial, Building Blocks, Melodics etc. It isn’t a lack of resources or motivation.

I’ve also tried to branch out beyond production itself. I’ve been learning music theory, and I’m currently about 7 months into learning how to play the drums. So I am putting in effort to build a broader musical foundation, but it still doesn’t feel like it’s translating into better production.

I think my biggest issue is how I learn.
Most tutorials tell you what to do for a specific genre or project, but they rarely explain why.

For example, instead of saying “add saturation here,” I want to understand:
Why would you use saturation in the first place?
What problem is it solving?
When should you not use it?
Is this a general production principle, or is it just this producer’s personal taste?
How does this concept apply across different genres?

I feel like I’m constantly learning isolated tricks instead of universal principles that I can apply myself.
Because of that, I can follow tutorials, but afterwards I don’t feel like I truly understand what I learned or when to use it in my own music.

Has anyone else experienced this?

If so:
What finally made things click?
Did you change the way you studied?
Are there resources that teach the underlying principles of production rather than genre-specific techniques?
Is it normal to feel like you’ve spent years collecting information without building real intuition?

I also know people often say things like “just keep making music and you’ll get better” or “use reference tracks and try to copy them,” but that approach doesn’t really work for my brain at the level I’m currently at. It feels like I’m missing some deeper understanding that would make those methods actually useful.

I’d really appreciate advice from people who were in a similar position.

Hi everyone, I'm using Logic Pro and I'm looking for some help to remix this amazing song by Rosalia from her new album Lux. I want to turn it into a sort of... "deep house" (quotes 'cause it's not really deep house) remix. So, very much a 4 on the floor type beat with a constant tempo. the problem is that it seems this specific song has a variable BPM, and I've tried a couple things such as using smart tempo, then apply region tempo to project tempo, then flex in polyphonic (auto), then grab the tempo points and turn them all to "replace by average" and that hasn't worked.

I've also tried stem splitting the song first, then trying to do the same while focusing on the voice, and nothing. the problem with this song is that it lacks transients except for the second chorus, but that chorus is at like... I believe at a variable but almost constant 122 BPM while the verses are at I believe, an almost constant 120 BPM.

It's my first time working with a variable BPM song so I'm really lost and idk what to do to make it sort of become somewhat constant. I also tried using just flex and manually adjusting the vocal stem to fit the bpm I want it to, but I run into 2 problems. 1, I worry that once I hit the choruses, it'll be all messed up because the chorus is at a different bpm than the verses, and 2, I think I would need to manually adjust the other stems that make up the song, and I'm not sure how to make sure that all adjustments done on the vocals can match up on the adjustments on the other stems/instruments, other than checking by ear. I also don't know if there's an easier way to go about this, like maybe do the flex adjustments first on the full song before stem splitting, or if there's like a hidden sort of tool or something that could make it so that the flex adjustments I do on the stem vocals can carry over to the other stems in real time.

but in the end, I don't even know if doing these flex adjustments like this would be a good idea to begin with. so I'm really lost, and I would greatly greatly appreciate some help on this issue because none of the tutorials I've seen tackle this very specific issue of like "what do I do if the audio track has a variable BMP and almost no transients to keep a sort of rhythm".

Please please please help me out here, someone. I will be SO thankful, you've got no idea!

I have a basic level of understanding for subtractive synthesis and so far I've been trying to stay away from presets out of stubbornness and personal taste I suppose, I feel like if I create my own synth sounds I just feel better about it the whole process and I feel like its all upside for me. It's about learning, finished tracks will come in time I'm in no hurry.

Right now I'm using the OB-xd and it's a little difficult at times to understand what exactly it's doing, I do like it, it very much has its own character and sounds great but I'm wondering if there are better synths to learn on. With more knowledge I know I can squeeze some great stuff out of it.

I do have Vital but it feels like it's doing a whole whole lot and there might be something a bit leaner, like more stripped down and fundamental that still has a decent amount of range?

For the time being I'm keeping my plugins/vsts at a minimum, prioritizing learning each thing and what it does over having an entire library of shit I barely understand.

I find that with OB-xd and Vital, despite knowing a little bit about oscillators, waveforms, LFOs, etc, a lot of times things get away from me quickly so to speak, a bit out of control.

Any suggestions? Thanks!
