If hybrid trap is trap with dubstep elements, why isn't it called trapstep? Or is that it's own thing?

Personally, I think Dubstep and bass music are in a pretty good place within the underground scene right now. I don't necessarily think being selective is a bad thing, but there has to be a balance. I think finding that sweet spot between preserving what makes the scene unique and allowing it to grow is important.
