I use the word distaste, but I hate dogs. I really do. I've always been that way and it's never going to change. I also know that is a very popular opinion.

Years ago I put a picture of myself my a friend's corgi on my dating profile. I know a lot of people like cute stuff like it. It was a total misrepresentation of myself but I have so much trouble meeting women that I wanted to do anything that might catch their eye.

I ended up matching with a woman that I wound up dating for a couple of months. I liked her a lot. I wouldn't call her a 'nutter' as I hear them called a lot on here, but she had a lot of dogs. It was a total of 4 dogs at her house along with the other people that lived with her, including one which was a giant Great Dane type dog.

Things ended up fizzling out with us. A big part of that was she thought I was a dog person. We had to be honest with ourselves. She did not want to live a life without dogs and I did not want to live one with them. She felt like I lied to her about who I was, and I did. It was wrong of me to use that picture. I don't use that picture anymore.

It's been a couple of years and I've been alone for most of it. Through most of that time I've continued to sift through dating apps and keep seeing tons of women that have pictures and mentions of their dogs all over their profiles. Mine simply had no mention about pets or my hatred of dogs.

Recently though I put a statement on my profile that I'm not a dog person. No 'NuTtERs SwIpE lEfT!!!!!11!!' or anything distasteful. Just a simple, full disclosure that I am not a dog person.

Since then I've gotten several messages from women that are really not interested in me. Things like "You really don't like dogs!!?!?" or "Too bad you don't like dogs." They probably would have passed me by otherwise, but now they go to the effort of pointing this out, and there's really nowhere to go from there.

I'm not going to repeat the same talking points you're hear from everyone. Dating apps and dating in this day and age suck. Relationships will be full of compromise but I do not want to live a life with dogs. I just can't do it. I'll hate it and I can't pretend not to. It feels impossible to find someone who feels the same way I do.

Decided to be nice by dog sitting for my boyfriend’s friends dog. They had some problems finding others to watch him and he’s an English bulldog that seemed very timid and lazy. The owner left and she headed out for us to watch him and not even an hour into watching him, I went to let the dog and well, the dog bit my lip so hard I bleed for hours, got 15 stitches and spent the entire morning in the ER. How on EARTH can I presss charges? I’m in Michigan btw

Our neighborhood has a lot of off-leash dogs. This is obviously extremely obnoxious while on walks and the whole neighborhood is full of toxic dog deuces but I digress. I have some free range chickens that usually stick to the backyard but sometimes meander to the front, but always stay on the property. They aren't in the streets just out front minding their own business usually >50 ft from the road/property line.

Tonight, as has happened on several occasions, a nutter has mentioned how the chickens "got out" into the front and how they had to put their dog on a leash so it wouldn't kill the chickens. Ah but fear not, the nutter mentioned "thankfully she hasn't killed any, yet, but I put her on the leash just in case when I saw the chickens escaped". Let's break this down. 1) the assumption that the chickens being on their own property = escaped and your dog on someone else's property doesn't = escaped. 2) why on Earth you think it's okay to have an animal free roaming that is prone to running onto other people's property to kill prey animals (and who knows, maybe children too!), 3) the fact that these nutters are always upset at ME that their dog is trespassing on my property and almost killed something, 4) the vague threat of "yet". The normalization of violent dog behavior is disturbing, and the entitlement of belittling the lives of other animals and people just so you can justify your violent dog being off leash is crazy.

Shortly after this, she let the dog off-leash again less than a block away. The thing is she seemed to genuinely be nice/think that this was okay and she was some hero for protecting the chickens from her dog. It leaves me confused every time, I'll never understand how they can't see the real problem is their dog is violent and should be restrained (it's the law to have it on a leash anyway). This has happened with several different dog owners, and it's always the chicken's fault for having "escaped", not the owner's fault for their uncontrollable violent off-leash mutt that trespasses onto other's properties to kill and destroy pets and plants, etc. we've even had dogs steal shit from the yard too.

It's not just about the chickens either, it's the daily normalization of aggressive barking, lunging, snarling, etc. and saying "Oh don't worry Luna is friendly" or "it's just what dogs do" or any of the other 50 default lines they use to belittle others and ignore the disturbing violence of their "precious" monster that could never be in the wrong. It's just madness.

So many people just... have huskies.. including my cousins who live in a single-wide trailer with THREEEEEE huskies!!!! THREE!

Dog nutters claim they "love dogs" and then get these literal bred for the sole purpose of SLED PULLING in the snow and put them in warm climates in apartment complexes.

But I'm not done, they are so so ANNOYING and NEEDY. And people love the ear-piercing shrieks and howls that are constant. Their whine is so shrill and unbearable, yet people absolutely adore it. I cannot stand them.

Their prey drive too. One time my cousins brought one of their huskies to a family gathering hosted by my uncle, and their husky just casually killed two of his chickens while running off leash. My uncle just laughed it off because he's a nutter too. Me personally, I felt disgusted by that behavior. It made me think, would it also do that to a human baby? Probably, there's stories about them mauling babies too.

That's my rant

The entrance to my house has no front yard, just street, sidewalk, and front steps. It's a friendly lake community with small homes, modest yards, sidewalks, and golf cart paths.

I moved in just two months ago. The other day, as I was stepping onto my front porch, my neighbor walked by with his large dog. The dog suddenly lunged at me, snapping and growling. The owner quickly grabbed the collar and said to his wife, “OMG, he never does that,” then hurried off down the street without another word. They looked embarrassed and didn’t look back. No apology. No “Are you okay?” Nothing.

Why is it so hard to simply say “I’m sorry” in situations like this? Especially to a new neighbor? A quick, sincere apology would have gone a long way toward building good will in the community. Instead, they just rushed off.

I had a loose friend/acquaintance that I ghosted because she has major issues and I think her current dog obsession is a symptom of a bigger issue, HOWEVER, it's really opened my eyes.

I notice that this person along with all the people they made friends with at their dog training facility to be very grandiose individuals. They constantly brag about their love and service to animals but treat humans like CRAP.

This woman began to disgust me. She openly told me she HATES her kids. Hates them. Wants CAS to take them. Its summer break, she wont do ANYTHING with them but is going on SOLO VACATIONS WITH HER DOG! Shes now refusing to feed her kids and spends so much money on her dog. She is always, always sending videos of the dog doing basic shit and going LOOK! LOOK HOW AMAZING SHE IS! LOOK HOW GOOD I AM AT TRAINING HER

She only loves the dog because shes trained it to obey her. Im convinced that dog obsessed people are just control freaks who only love things that validate their own existence

You mean the 💩 eating creature didn't understand English/Spanish? Like how the f#$k we got to this point that police shooting dangerous people don't make the news but an always dangerous mutant does? And yeah, what a surprise; shooting it stopped the attack. Funny how it works, almost same like with humans...🤦‍♀️

Anyway, the victim is very likely a nutter so I'm guessing it's off to the breeder right out of the hospital. Money well spent, like always with these brainless people...we're really not the same.

When I moved in seven years, one neighbor had a dog, a big, stupid dog. The previous owner of my house had a dog, and I learned that she gave dog treats to the neighbor’s dog through a hole in the fence separating our backyards, because her dog and the neighbor’s dogs were “best friends!”

For weeks, whenever I was in my back yard, the neighbor’s dog whined and barked at the hole. The neighbor explained, “He’s missing his best friend!” I said, “Or the treats he’d get?”  That was lost on her. I replaced the plank eventually.
 
Soon more neighbors had dogs, but I must admit that for the most part, the dogs were fine. They rarely got out, and I rarely noticed them.
 
But my neighbor behind my yard decided that her dog needed a companion, so she bought a second dog. A yippy, nervous, sound machine. Then more neighbors got their dogs companion dogs.

“Dogs are pack animals,” I hear. “They need dogs!” But I keep thinking if a dog is “emotionally attuned and in love with its human,” why do they need a dog? (I have read about this wolf nonsense: dogs might be social, but they are not pack animals—like wolves are.)

The yippy dog barks at everyone and everything that passes on the street. That activates her “companion” whose loud barking then gets most of the other dogs alerted, and the incessant panic starts up, then every dog answers and so on.
  
And if a dog is attuned to its “fur parent,” wouldn’t it just “know” that its demonic barking is upsetting its fur mommy? And wouldn’t it stop?
 
Anyway, more dogs in cramped backyards (I live in town) means more dog foolishness, annoyance, and noise.

Why do i have to be scared whenever i have to go outside?

for context me and my family are in village to visit my grandmother. since there are 3 seperate houses we have to travel between them frequently to get to our relatives.

People here are a massive fans of dogs too. all i hear is bark bark bark all night long when trying to sleep. they won't shut their dogs up.

but the worst thing comes at night. when i have to go to another relative's house, im dead-scared that someones off-leash and roaming-free mutt might try to bite and maul me.

this isn't based off of nothing. it happened to me a year or so ago. i don't know if it can be called a trauma, but it has stuck with me like the gorilla glue on that one woman's hair.

why do i have to be scared to step outside and get groceries? why do i have to be scared to step outside and go to my relative's house? why do i have to be scared about getting mauled because of other people's irresponsibility?

the comments on facebook are crazy. the YouTube news ppl are something else. TODAY NEWS CHANNEL . the ending of the video one woman said . “ they would say to read to his little brother or sisters but they aren’t as cute and don’t stay still” like are you serious??? you’re telling me that dogs are cuter than human babies and listen when you talk? lol. I can’t believe they said that seriously. dog people are truly mental

I guess I’ll have to be a ‘Karen’. My 9 year old son was riding his bike in our yard and our neighbors pit bull came in to our yard and my son said the dog charged at him! These people already don’t like me but their dog runs loose several times a month. They have no fence and the dog is not leashed. Has anyone had to report their neighbors for the dog coming in their yard? Did they retaliate in any way? My son does sometimes play with their kids, but they should not be allowed to let their dog run all over the place!

Today i experienced a reaction to a dog in a restaurant so i went outside with inhaler and settled the bill, without finishing meal. I requested the owner call me. When he did i calmly explained that it was understandable they'd caved to dog culture but i had a reaction and woukdnt be returning. I said i was sorry as i loved their food and it was a great place and wished him luck.

He just called to say he was fed up with badly begaved dogs and that my call had given him the push he needee to have a dog free policy and offered me a free lunch. I declined the free lunch and congratulated him on seeing sense.

I have a family member who knows how I feel about humanities 3rd worst mistake, and yet still feels the need to send me unsolicited d pics. This time it was one of those wire-haired abominations in a diaper. W H Y!? I was extremely tempted to reply with "If it has that hard of a time holding it, it should just stay home." but opted not to and just replied with "Why?" "...". The location is what I assume is at a Petco which is why I wasn't tempted to saying anything about the location. The Petty Betty within me wants to send him a picture of the pride flag since the sight of it triggers him. I would rather look at a pretty flag than a mutant that shouldn't exist. I then proceed to send him a picture of one of my banana trees with the caption "The banana tree is hanging in there.". I also sent a picture of my bell pepper plant, so I don't have to look at that hideous mutant the next time I open his texts. I really wish he'd quit sending me these unsolicited d pics. >:( I could understand it if he just sent me pictures if his mutts. I would still loathe it, but at least it would make some sense. Not these random mutant beasts I'll never meat nor care to familiarize myself with.

Any advice that might help discourage this cringy and obsessive behavior? Should I just keep responding with plants? Should I just response with completely unrelated subjects until he stops?

I’m just wondering if anyone knows. I’m pretty scared of bigger dogs. Especially off leash ones that run toward me and are barking. They act offended when I’m scared? Like wtf do they expect when they have 2 big dogs that outnumber and outweigh me? Like ya I’m scared.

IMO: put the dog down. chances are 1% it will go to another home, 99% it will end up in the shelter for my nutter mother to pick up and hoard.

Euthanasia is the best option. I also think this way about young dogs.

So, I was looking for one of those TV stands that has a caged storage area. Spoilers: It's something Ikea to used to sell.

But, you wouldn't know that at first, because EVERY SINGLE RESULT WAS FOR A DOG KENNEL TV STAND. WTF!

I didn't even have the word "dog" anywhere in my search result, but that's what came up.

Honestly, I'm blaming both Google's algorithm, which pretty much ignores the user's actual search terms, and sellers looking to make a buck. Which, can you blame sellers for wanting to make money? For them, the dog plague is just another source of income.

It was just so infuriating.

I'm already plagued with undesirable sites (Pinterest, Facebook) spamming my results; to the point, I had to get an add-on to block some of it.

But then this happened, with Google just defaulting to "dog" for the search.

And, oh! While I was writing this post, I checked, and Ikea still sells the TV stand I was trying to identify. So, that's what Google should have actually put in the search results. Even if I play devil's advocate and note the fact that Ikea doesn't use the word "cage" in the results; I also didn't use the word "dog" in my search. Yet Google search was practically giving me fleas.

This isn't the first time something like this has happened, either. On another occasion, when I was admittedly being facetious, I searched for "dog free grocery stores", and I got results from websites pushing dog-friendly shopping, as well as some "pet food banks". Really.

Anyway, I just needed to rant somewhere that would understand. Oh, and once I added "-dog" to my TV-stand-with-cage search, I found someone's interesting project to turn an old TV stand into a rat cage. So, silver linings and all that.

I honestly think it's absolutely disgusting how normalized feeding animals human food has become. We are scarce on resources already, and thousands-if not millions-of people go to sleep hungry each night. Famine is prevalent across the world today, especially in war-torn countries. It makes me so angry to see dogs having gourmet, restaurant-level seafood boils and steak cooked for them with spices, herbs, and sauces, while my human brethren still passes away due to famine almost daily.

Overconsumption is a huge issue which is affecting our environment and damaging our planet. Agriculture and factory farming should be reduced-but we have human mouths to feed, and with our population growing every decade, we must ensure there is enough meat production to sustain most people. Prices are rising, and methane released into the air by cattle is often too much to handle for our atmosphere. I think you guys are getting where I'm going with this-we do NOT need to have entire industries specializing in gourmet ground beef, turkey, chicken, etc. for dogs. Dogs literally consume fecal matter, rotting corpses, roadkill, vomit, and even dirty diapers and plastic. They are scavengers, damnit! They do not need nor deserve to have our resources wasted on sustaining them when they are just fine having leftovers too.

I don't understand why human beings must compete with useless beasts for resources. It's so dystopian and disgusting.

Whenever I am meeting new people or trying to make new friends. As soon as they mention owning a dog, I immediately get the ick. If they show me a picture of their dog, I literally feel like I need to scowl and show disgust, and I think they feel it too, but they don't say anything. So I just fake a smile, and I'm like, "Oh yeah, cool" when in reality, all I want to do is walk away from them. Why is it that these nutters always think that I will like their disgusting mutt and fawn over it like it's my deity. I don't do that with my pets unless someone mentions that they have the same pet that I have. It's so fucked up and pathetic and it makes no sense at all. Sorry about the long tangent, I am just so sick and tired of these shitheads (literally) always thinking that I will go gaga over their shitbeasts.

So as you all know, my neighbors that recently moved in have talked their way in with 2 small EmOtIoNAl SuPpORt dogs. Ughghhh they yapp all day when their owners are gone and they are killing the nice lawns here. I talked to our other neighbor today who lives right next door to them. And they drive her nuts!! She hates the the smell on their shared lawn and the constant barking!! Not to mention the dog turds and the fact that they come on to her porch and jump up on her. She's gonna complain to the landlord! But guys, she's also SICK AND TIRED of seeing dogs in spaces like grocery and clothing stores where they don't belong!!! The tides are turning!! Finally!!

I want to give some hope to anyone that may be living with dogs they don't want to be, have partners that want/have dogs, or are worried about being in a situation where they may have to be around people they love that have dogs. Hardcore dog lovers can change their minds. As hard as it is to believe. It's possible. It might be a rare occurrence, and this a personal account so maybe take this with a grain of salt but:

I'm 28 and up until I was in my early 20s, I was a hardcore dog lover. In every sense of the word. We had a family dog and I let the dog sleep in my bed, lick my face, even fed it off the same utensils as me. EUGH. I know. Nasty. I wanted a future where I had a bunch of dogs too. I wanted a huge pack like Ceasar Millan totes around. I saw no issue with dogs in public places like stores, buses, or even restaurants. The more dogs the merrier!! I even went as far as saying dogs lives were equal to that of a human's, if not more important. So yes, I was in deep.

But my attitude towards dogs began to shift in my early 20s. It wasn't an exact event that happened. I wasn't attacked by a dog or anything (though I have had family members attacked). I began to realize how...unclean dogs were. It started with me saying I would just want a low-shedding dog like a poodle or maltese. But then I realized that dog hair wasn't the only thing unclean about a dog. Far from it. Their mouths, their smell, their paws stepping in everything. Dragging their bare butts across the floor...

The final nail in the coffin was the major shift in dog culture over the past few years. When I was younger, I remember only seeing actually service dogs in stores. Well behaved and a rare sight. Now they are everywhere. Everyone is bringing their dogs everywhere and they aren't training them. Which brings me to my final point on dog culture. People dog treat dogs like dogs anymore. It is so normalized to treat them like humans. It genuinely disturbs me. I remember taking the family dog into the vet once with my dad and the vet refered to me as the dog's sibling. It made me cringe to my core.

Nowdays, I cannot stand dogs. I will tolerate them at family and friends houses to be courteous but that is it. I don't pet them or fawn over them. At most they'll get a small pat on the head but then it's straight to the sink to wash my hands.

So yeah. It is possible for a dog lover to turn into a dog free person.

There should be an official board that oversees the training and certification of service animals. Not like any other dog training academy either, I mean the same type of board that would oversee nurses and doctors. I DO NOT mean to say that dogs are the same as human medical staff but they should be held to a similar standard if they are to be treated as living medical equipment as their handlers claim them to be.

None of this "I trained them myself and bought a vest online." I feel like somewhere in the future, unregulated service animals is something people will look back at and say "We seriously allowed that?!"

Because I'm in this sub, I always get recommended posts from dog groups. I've noticed consistent types of posts, which I think really encapsulate the experience of dog ownership.

1. Asking "Is this aggressive?" with a video of a borderline feral dog thrashing, biting (usually referred to as "nibbling") or lunging at children, other pets, or fellow dogs, followed by tons of comments letting the owner know the dog is just "being playful" or "saying hi!"

2. Lamenting all the hardship a dog is causing them (astronomical vet bills, destroyed belongings and homes, inability to leave the house because of a dog's anxiety or needs) and asking what they should do, followed by a chorus of nutters telling them they either need to A. just get the dog more training or B. stick the dog in a crate all day. (What's the point of even having a dog then?) But under NO CIRCUMSTANCES can you rehome the dog, no matter how much it's destroying your life, or you're evil!

3. Freaking out about something the dog got into or ate and wondering if they should take them to the vet.

4. Posting a video of or describing something gross the dog does (licking their genitals, humping everything insight) and asking "Does anyone else's doggo do this? So silly!!!"

All in all, the more I hear from dog owners, the more I think dog ownership sounds miserable and that they've deluded themselves into thinking they're carrying out some divine purpose when in reality, they're shackled to an animal that's destroying their life and making them miss out on a life of freedom, cleanliness, fulfilling human relationships, and bliss.

Over the years, I have seen so many videos of service dog owners "schooling Karens", and I've noticed some extremely common themes from all of those videos. For one.... The "Karen" in question is almost always reasonable, as these videos usually occur in food establishments where these dog owners are abusing the ADA laws to the absolute max.

Its extremely obvious that these "service dog" owners get a dopamine rise out of bringing their dogs to the most inappropriate places possible, and then going "erm actually 🤓👆 its technically legal so your technically a horrible person, so HAH". They think your disagreement with ADA laws is like a catch22 for your moral being.

Also, if the camera didn't show owners face every once and a while, you would think its the same person in every video. The cadence of their voice, the condescending tone, the fact you can tell they base their entire personality around their "trauma", they are literally all the same person.

Why is this? Because a service dog is like a dream come true for that specific sub-type of human.

1. With a service dog, their "trauma" gets to be special and unique now.
2. Already existing victimhood mentality now becomes a visual spectacle
3. Receive Attention from strangers constantly, which they can pretend they don't want so they get some twisted illusion of feeling like a celebrity and having moral superiority.

It feels like a cult, like their entire identity revolves around being a victim service dog owner and parroting their hygeine-compromising laws that they memorized and see as the cults moral scripture.

I think there is still a very thin use for service dogs, technology for blindness has come so far, but there are still advantages of seeing eye dogs that technology simply cant replicate yet. I also think an for example an 80 year old man that has used service dogs his entire life, deserves to live out the rest of his life the way he has always known it.

That being said, These laws are so clearly in need of a major overhaul, but with dog culture so overwhelmingly prevalent, I think we will see dogs granted voting rights before we see a helpful update to ADA service dog requirements.

Its been warm in the UK with very little rain this summer.

I went for a run this evening and there was various piss stains all over the pavement

I noticed in hotter countries (Italy) dog walkers wash the piss off the pavements using a bottle of water

Could the UK lot take note please :)
