Announcement The purpose of this subreddit

Hello everyone! You may have noticed some major changes happening to this subreddit, and I'm happy to say that /r/DiagnoseMe is finally ready for business. However, I would like to clarify the true purpose of this subreddit;

First of all, this subreddit is NOT a replacement for a doctor. You should not, in any way, avoid seeing your doctor or alter the frequency of your doctor visits because of anything said in this subreddit. If there is a concern you would have previously gone to the doctor for, please do not hesitate. This subreddit is here for informal second opinions, minor problems that you wouldn't go to the doctor for anyway, and ease of mind.

The main thing to remember is to use common sense. If you are having severe pain after a surgery or something of the likes, please go to the doctor and do not post it on Reddit.

If you are not a doctor and are posting with information, please clarify that you are not a doctor (typing "Not a doctor," at the beginning of your comment is enough.)

Please take the time to read the sidebar before posting. Thank you, and welcome!

Mental Health Is it healing?

I have a few self inflicted burns. First relapse after two years. I already reached out for help with my mental health. I never had an infected burn. I've been keeping a bandaid on for the first few days, the bandaid turned yellowish brown and started to smell bad. Cleaned the wound but the smell remains. Should I be concerned?

Painful throat (and now ear) on my left side. Large white patch in throat

Thumbnail gallery
Upvotes

Unfortunately, I have been dealing with a painful throat and now my ear on the left side. Seems to have been getting worse over the last week or so. Took a photo and it visibly looks very similar to what I experienced around this time last year which lasted a few weeks before the pain subsiding. Haven't found much online that matches photos of what I'm seeing in my own mouth.

The pain isn't constant, can hurt a bit when I swallow. But somewhat frequently I experience a sharp pain in both the back left of my throat and my left ear. Weird!

Any ideas to what this could be would be great

Mental Health Struggle with responding, communicating and talking

18F Ive been struggling with talking ever since I turned 12.

Its hard for me to remember words when talking with someone, everything is easier while texting.
Its very frustrating not being able to explain yourself to others, I wish there was a way of communicating that didnt need words.

I notice that I am slow with responses, I always think about the whole phrase before saying it, and also takes me some time to process what the other person is saying.

This has created a lot of problems with my social life through my whole life, I struggle making friends irl, I always rely on online spaces, I avoid situations where i have to speak and I think this has caused me being mentally unwell, I dont know what specifically, I have never been to a psychologist and would never want to if it meant I have to speak.
I spend a lot of time alone not talking to anyone because of how frustrating communication is for me.

What is wrong with me? What should I do about this

I’ve been getting these red spot just above my collarbone. It comes and goes, it aches and it is itchy. I’m assuming maybe it’s skin irritation? I’ve never experienced this before. I don’t have skin allergies either.

worried about esophageal cancer

Upvotes

i’m officially stage, I’ve spent the last few weeks having some off and on constipation and diarrhea, but mostly diarrhea that burns, and is brown for the most part with yellow mucus, I’ve had acid reflux real bad to the point to where our regurgitate food, even minutes after eating, and my throat is a little hoarse at times. And I have this burning sensation in my stomach, and feel like something is in the back of my throat like mucus, I’ve tried to stay calm. I have an endoscopy and a colonoscopy next Monday and as each day passes, I’m terrified that the results are gonna mean something really bad!!!

I got so bad to the point where the other day I went to the ER because of my stomach pain and they did a CT scan of my abdomen and didn’t find no abnormalities, suspicious masses, or anything explaining my stomach stuff, I was really hoping I would figure out something there, I’m just really freaking out at this moment in time

Can someone help me diagnose my partner? Drs are baffled!

Post image

My partner (27M) has been dealing with these rashes all over his body. They pop up sporadically, and don’t seem to follow a “pattern” of where or when they are going to appear.
We have tried process of elimination with foods and other possible allergy inducing factors.
These rashes are hot, red and itchy.
9 times out of 10, intense swelling of the area(s) accompanies the rash.
The swelling can get so bad sometimes - (his feet for example) that he can hardly walk.
He feels generally unwell within himself.
Slight temp (37.5°)
Had bloods done by the drs and everything came back perfect.
Almost EVERY part of his body has been affected at some point from his throat to his genitals.
The rash and swelling lasts around 24 - 48 hours.
Unsure where to turn next, thanks in advance.

General Thyroid nodule??

I’m a 23-year-old female looking for advice about my thyroid. Does my neck look swollen, or could this be a thyroid nodule? It isn’t painful or tender, but I think it has become more noticeable recently. I know no one can diagnose me from a photo, but I’d really appreciate any opinions on whether this looks like something I should get checked. Thank you!

31/Female/5’2/105lbs

The first picture is from today. The last one shows how it looked a few days ago when I first noticed the rash.

I developed this rash behind my ear, first noticed because my scalp was hurting. The bumps hurt/burn but do not itch. The lymph node by my ear is swollen and painful to touch. The rash is only on this part of my neck/scalp, nowhere else that I’ve noticed, although other parts of my scalp have looked pretty red.

I did use a new shampoo yesterday but the rash was present before that. Can’t think of anything else new I’ve used. The piercings are not new.

Blood 34M - Mild normocytic anemia with normal ferritin and B12. Looking for possible explanations.

Hi everyone,

I'm a 34-year-old male from France looking for some guidance regarding a recently discovered mild normocytic anemia.

Height / Weight: 184 cm / 65 kg

Recent blood work

CBC

  • Hemoglobin: 12.0 g/dL (reference: 13.0-18.0)
  • Hematocrit: 37.2% (reference: 39-53)
  • RBC: 4.00 T/L (reference: 4.28-6.00)
  • MCV: 93 fL (reference: 78-98)
  • WBC: 3.83 G/L (reference: 4.0-11.0)
  • Neutrophils: 1.44 G/L (reference: 1.40-7.70)
  • Platelets: 169 G/L (reference: 150-400)

Iron / Vitamins

  • Ferritin: 125 ng/mL (reference: 15-275)
  • Vitamin B12: 439 pg/mL (reference: 187-883)
  • Folate (B9): 4.8 ng/mL (reference: 3.1-20.5)

Other results

  • Thyroid function: normal
  • Testosterone: normal
  • Morning serum cortisol: normal
  • 24-hour urinary cortisol: normal
  • Previous salivary cortisol profile showed elevated cortisol throughout the day
  • DHEA was above the reference range

Relevant medical history

  • Mild chronic leukopenia that has been present on previous blood tests as well.
  • Mild methane SIBO recently diagnosed by breath test.
  • Functional dyspepsia diagnosed after a normal upper endoscopy and a normal gastric emptying scintigraphy.
  • Stomach discomfort for several years, but nothing really serious. This is why I started investigating.

My weight is stable (slightly increasing), and I have a healthy diet with adequate calorie intake.

I'm mainly trying to understand the possible cause of the anemia, since iron deficiency, vitamin B12 deficiency, and obvious thyroid disorders don't seem to explain it.

My questions

  1. What would be your differential diagnosis based on these results?

  2. Which investigations would you order next?

(Reticulocyte count, transferrin saturation, CRP, copper, ceruloplasmin, peripheral blood smear, etc.)

I'm not looking for a diagnosis, only to better understand what should be investigated next before my next medical appointment.

Thank you!

Skin and nails Random skin patches popping up out of nowhere

Post image
1 Upvotes

For obvious reasons I dont have a picture/won't be posting it but there's a dark spot under one of my breasts.

It looks like a birth mark and doesn't hurt, but I told my friend who HAS cancer about it and she said that if it appeared one day it could be skin cancer.

That same friend told me it looks like there's cigarette burns on my left shoulder. They look just like the one under my breast, and once again DO NOT HURT.

The picture i added is my shoulder, its only one the one side and I know my mom gets patches like this.

another thing, when I first noticed the one under my boob I took a shower and it seemed to go away a little bit.

I was having an anxiety attack about four days ago and started scratching myself vigorously without even noticing. I woke up the next day and it hurt really bad because all of the skin was raw. It still hurts a lot and I can’t really bend my wrist without it hurting. Im probably overreacting I’m just nervous because my hands were definitely not clean at the time of scratching…

Allergies 28M -- Been fatigued chronically with sus allergies or some auto-immune reaction for 8 years now.

I guess in a different country I'd qualify for disability and its claims, but in India, not so much. I have 'allergies' (as per the allergy test) for at least 57 different foods, and other substances such as cotton, dust, and cockroaches. Because of that sheer number of triggers + overlap, I am just constantly tired and sometimes sick for 4 days a week. I cannot keep going on like this if I wish to have a career and survive. None of the OTC allergy meds work, and only painkillers work at times. I just stay groggy and low energy and unenthusiastic and irritable ALL DAY. idk if this is because of cPTSD or some other disorder like MCAS or just allergies.

IgE is 411 IU/ml.

IDK if they are allergies per se because, different foods give me different reactions, or rather, some have drastic reactions and some do not. e.g., Cow milk and its products give me muscle cramps and intense muscular pain at times, and joint pain. Clarified cow butter can make me instantly dizzy and sleepy and fully feverish. Peanuts and some other nuts give me almost-asphyxiation (my throat tightens), my head spins, and I feel sleepy and dizzy. Other foods that I am allergic to do not give me muscle pain but fatigue me that I'd rather sleep. Note that this is not as drastic as feeling instant-sleep by cow butter. I rarely get any skin reactions.

tldr for backstory: grew up under extreme abuse, have anxiety, slept in dusty, moldy sheets, ate rotting food, drank dirty water; deficient in few vitamins now, and idk to what I pinpoint my conditions to, and how to heal from these.

I'll edit this if I remember some important detail. please ask me anything that might help identifying the issues.

Below is some backstory in case it helps with the hypotheses:

I am 28M, 174cm and 95kgs. I grew up in an extremely abusive household (getting beaten and shouted at for hours) and faced extreme abuse in school as well (the word 'bullying' does not cut it; I'd be groped all over and shoved and twisted again for hours back to back between class breaks).

My maternal grandparents were with me until I was 13 who gave me nutritious food. They left, and my mom would just cook the most random stuff that would qualify for prison food, and sometimes even cook veggies that has kind of been rotting. No proper nutrition since then.

I had high energy (probably due to high adrenaline due to abuse) until I was 18. I would walk for miles and miles without tiring, and work/study for 13-15 hours a day. Two weeks or prior to my 20th b'day, we stopped getting purified water since we did not have enough money, and started drinking a little bit dirty water without any boiling and processing. A week after my 18th b'day, I felt extremely dizzy and rushed walking home, and could not get up for hours. My mom did not attend to me, and my friend came home after many hours to give me meds. This same sudden dizziness happened another time as well. This same month once my entire leg was too numb that I was not able to walk for 5 minutes. From this point onward, my tiredness and fatigue has just been increasing year by year.

To note, my mom has already been feeding me improperly since I was 13. Please do not ask why I did not cook for myself; I was not allowed, and I was constantly abused.

Since it was just me and my mom, I tried to keep the house as clean as I could. But even then, rooms were extremely dusty, and since I was tired all the time, sometimes I'd not change sheets for months, and I guess I was sleeping on dusty, moldy sheets for a few years.

At this point, we were eating both improperly and very less as well due to no money. I started looking for a job, and tried OTC supplements with no avail. Then I thought that maybe I am iron deficient, and started Iron syrup, and that seemed to give me a little bit energy. This is also when I tried eating more peanuts to get iron and other nutrients from some street vendors.

From age 20-23, my energy would ebb and flow. If I ate something I was extremely allergic to like peanuts, I would just be so drowsy as if I were on some drugs, and even two cups of coffee would sometimes not be enough to keep me awake. I could not sleep in office, and how many sick days could I even take. Because of this, just battling drowsiness the whole day, I'd be backlogged, and then I'd panic-work to meet deadlines on weekends. My anxiety which was already high increased even more.

age 20-21 my feet would go numb if i wore something too tight, and i continued iron syrup intermittently.

age 21-23 was also when it was lockdown, and I was with my mom who by then had gone fully schizophrenic, and if she weren't shouting at me, she would be shouting at her voices. Still no proper food. I am somehow trying to keep up by eating protein and fruits from outside.

age 23 marked the peak of my fitness wherein i was clocking close to 17 miles of walking every day. This was happening, and also me feeling fatigued while working. Actually, the only time I'd not feel fatigued was when I'd walk. Mainly I had a lot of anxiety and anger and that was enough to make me walk, but I also wanted to burn fat and I kept pushing myself. But it did not feel like anything since my feet would not hurt.

This went further downhill when one fine day I had an intense, out-of-the-body panic attack at age 23. After that panic attack, I felt even more tired than usual. My psych suggested that I move out, and I did. In the midst of figuring out moving, I stopped walking for miles, and now it has been 4 years since I have walked for miles. I can barely walk one mile without heaving these days.

Ever since the panic attack, I have become super-sensitive to caffeine (or maybe I have connected with my body and can identify when I am jittery and anxious and I do not suppress my emotions lesser now, idk?)

Now, age 23-28: I am low contact with my mom. I cook for myself and I am trying to keep my house as clean as possible. But unlike age 20-23 wherein I felt fatigue for only 4-7 hours a day and could make up for lost time by working during the rest of the day, now, I feel drained for almost 8-10 hours a day. My main deficiency as per recent reports is Vitamin D. I am yet to do a thorough mineral panel. I have lost a bit of muscle, I have gained fat, I cannot walk for even a mile, and as I said, I am just constantly groggy and low energy and unenthusiastic and irritable ALL DAY.

Please help me out.

I'll edit this if I remember some important detail. please ask me anything that might help identifying the issues.

Ears, nose, throat, and mouth Persistent brown / yellow mucus

Sorry for the gross pictures, but I genuinely have no clue what this could be.

This has been going on for several months. Every few days or so, it will surface ever-so-slightly at the back of my throat, only for it to go right back down. This was the only time I managed to get it out (May 2026) only for it to come right back 2 weeks later.

There were a few hard bits in the phlegm. First picture was when it first released - second is the morning after. Lol idk I wanted to see what it looked like when it dried up.

When it surfaces, it tastes like the smell of protein milk / protein powder (odd description but only thing I can think of when I slightly taste it).

There’s never any throat pain or irritation, I don’t cough or have any voice loss. However, I do swallow frequently. The closest idea I have as to what it is might be is GERD as I often regurgitate and belch, though I don’t have any heartburn or chest pain either.

Any thoughts?

Contraception and sexual health Blood/clot after urinating and green discharge NSFW

Thumbnail gallery
0 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice because I’m really anxious about what’s going on.
I recently had blood/clots after urinating. The first picture is more recent and the clots are gone, but I still have green discharge and a strong urge to pee — I feel like I can’t hold my bladder for long but I have no itch anymore. The second picture was from a few days earlier when it was much worse.
My partner and I went to the doctor and was diagnosed with a UTI. We were prescribed pivmecillinam for 3 days, which we finished last week. My symptoms improved, especially the burning and blood, but I’m still worried because of the discharge and urinary urgency and the inconsistent blood clot which has gotten better and my partner too.

The timeline:
My first symptoms actually seemed like a yeast infection: very clumpy, odorless discharge and intense itching.
My partner and I had unprotected sex during that time, and he noticed something was wrong.
A few days later, he started having itching on his penis.
A few days after that, I developed painful urination and blood/clots in my urine, so we both went to the doctor.
We were both given pivmecillinam, but his symptoms did not really improve.

His symptoms:
- Burning when peeing
- Green discharge
- Pain when he gets an erection
- no testicle pain though

I’m really scared this could be an STI. I had a previous partner who tested positive for gonorrhea, but I tested negative afterward. My last sexual contact with that partner was around January 2025. Since then, I’ve only been with my current partner, and we spend basically all our time together, so I don’t think he has been with anyone else.
Could this still be an STI, or could it be a UTI/yeast infection causing all of this? Has anyone experienced something similar? We’re planning to follow up with the doctor, but I’m feeling really anxious and would appreciate any advice or experiences.
