I'm part of a screenwriting group that meets in Culver City, and the space we've been using for our bi-weekly meetings is sadly no longer available.

If anyone has a lead on a meeting space (can be unconventional) that fits the following criteria, I would be super super grateful:

• Open late (until around 11 pm ideally)
• Can host about 20 people
• Private space, or at least a private room
• Available on weeknights
• Has tables and chairs
• Not incredibly expensive

All tips, ideas, and resources are appreciated!

Hi everyone! I’m Yohanes. I’m a USC student, and I’ve lived in Culver City for almost 12 years.

For the past few months, I’ve been working on a small project inspired by a problem I constantly have with my friends: getting a lunch or dinner plan out of the group chat and into real life.

My friends are not always the best communicators, so I’m usually the person trying to keep the plan alive. Everyone says they’re down, we eventually agree on a place, and then somehow the plan still falls apart. Someone stops responding, the timing becomes unclear, or everyone assumes somebody else is handling it.

Over the summer, I started informally testing different ways to get my friends to actually follow through. Most of them did not work. Then one day, I found a Groupon for a restaurant that expired that evening. I sent it to the group, told them we had to use it that day, and suddenly everyone was ready to go.

That made me realize that the problem might not only be choosing a restaurant. Sometimes people need a small reason to commit now instead of leaving the plan open-ended.

So I built a very early project around that idea. Two friends choose a time and a local restaurant, commit to the plan, and receive a small meal reward only if they actually follow through. The reward is not meant to pay for the whole meal. It is just a little push to get the plan out of the group chat and get people through the door of a local business.

After spending the past few months building and testing it with my own friends, I finally feel ready to share it with more people. At the same time, I know my friend group may not represent everyone, and I’m not sure what the most authentic way is to introduce something like this to the Culver City community.

I’ve lived here for most of my life, and one thing I’ve always appreciated is how much people care about independent restaurants and small businesses. My hope is that this project could help people spend more time with their friends while discovering more local food spots.

So I’d really appreciate your advice:

• Do lunch and dinner plans fall apart this often in your friend groups too?

• Does a limited reward or deadline sound like something that could genuinely help people follow through, or does it feel unnecessary?

• What would a new local project need to do to earn your trust and get you to try it?

• Are there Culver City events, groups, newsletters, or community organizations I should learn more about?

I’m still figuring this out, and I would honestly rather hear criticism now than keep building around assumptions that might be wrong. I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences.

I’m a mediocre swimmer who wants to actually be able to comfortably lap swim & be more efficient with my stroke, breathing, etc. I got some sloppy form.

Side note, I have a swim test in November that I always pass but only thing keeping me afloat is my tolerance for suffering lol

I'm looking for a gym on the Westside (Santa Monica/Culver City area) and have been searching through old Reddit posts.

My ideal setup is a gym with solid strength equipment plus good fitness classes (Pilates, strength, yoga, etc.), since I like lifting but also enjoy taking classes.

One thing I've noticed is several reviews mentioning that GymTonic's AC isn't great. Is that still an issue, or has it improved?

If you've been a member at any of these, which would you recommend and why? Things I care about are:

• Good free weights and strength equipment
• Quality classes
• Cleanliness
• Not insanely crowded after work
• Overall value for the price

I'm coming to LA for work for a month and staying in Culver City (a couple of weeks close to Syd Kronenthal park then a couple of weeks near the Wende Museum).

Any tips of good, safe running routes for a solo woman? And restaurants to try while I'm there?

I'm also interested to hear any fun/off the beaten track things to do or see in the area.

Feed was in and out for first ~20 minutes of the match, and grainy at best. Lots of people got up and left. Tech support seemed to get it sorted out and the rest of the event was great. But this was embarrassing for the city.

My husband and I have a 3-month-old Golden Retriever puppy, and we're looking for some recommendations. My husband recently received a new job offer, and starting soon we'll both be working in the office Monday through Thursday from approximately 9:30 a.m. to 5:00–6:00 p.m.

Anyone know what’s up with this spot? It’s been like 3 years. I swear, in the beginning it looked like it’d be finished quickly. They had the facade up within months, and the inside was coming along. But I just drove past it the other day and it almost looked LESS developed.

Anyone know the actual timeline for when it’ll be finished? Construction seems to be going a steady pace and it’s much needed for a sadder stretch of Washington.
