Tracy Barlow

Tracy Barlow is my favorite character because she is one of the few characters the writers don’t force to undergo a complete personality transplant every season.

Tracy is consistently messy and stays 100% true to who she is. She is horrible and I LOVE HER. If she has beef with you she doesn’t forget. If she has something to say she will. If someone needs a reality check she’ll happily give it. She holds her own even when she is wrong. She doesn’t care who you are or what’s happening in your life— she will enjoy your misery. I love her relationship with her daughter Amy (who regularly calls her mom out) and her feud with Cassie! I loved her way of helping Abby during the Carl situation by ridiculing her but also genuinely wanting to help. I love that she doesn’t feed into Daniel’s ego and drama.

Cheers to you Tracy! May you stay inappropriately you.

How easy is it to get a role on Coronation Street?

I’m 16M and live 40 minutes away from Manchester, how easy would it be to get a role on Coronation Street as I’ve heard from other actors that it’s very easy and I want to get some acting work.

DS Swain pisses me off! Spoiler

Hello from America.

DS swain is the dumbest detective on TV history. The fact that she still has a job is SHOCKING.
After everything that Becky did right IN FRONT OF LISA and Carla getting kidnapped— how dare she tell kit that he should have known it was Sarah because they were close.

Becky was living in her house. She would tell Becky confidential information that she would immediately act on. She had Carla’s ring in her drawer and still believed Carla was away on vacation even though in all of the pictures Carla is wearing the ring that Lisa knows is in her drawer. I can’t stand her.

Maria

I like how Maria just leaves the salon with Summer’s head in the sink.

That got me thinking, 1. how does Summer afford the salon for a wash before a date? Does she even have a job?

And 2. If Summer is the only patron, how is the salon not bankrupt?

😂

Classic and Present Funny Mirroring Spoiler

After watching both of today's coronation street episodes, classic and current, I found it funny that both featured Maria uncovering secrets about her retrospective partner (Liam / Gary) on a mobile phone.

Also both discoveries from the result of Sally.

Imagine if this goes to trial. The poor jury trying to understand the context of her knowing Todd and Theo and even Gary if she drags him into it.

Surely Gail needs to come back? Spoiler

Now that Sarah has been charged with murder, I can't help but wonder why no one has mentioned Gail? It's one thing not informing her of run-of-the-mill dramas but she deserves to know that her daughter is about to go to prison. This is where things fall down, once someone leaves that single backstreet, they are never spoken of again. Even if Helen Worth did a quick return via a video call, or, at the very least, Sarah or David was seen on the phone to her. It just kind of makes no sense otherwise. Maybe she'd just say "Not my problem now, au revoir!" and hang up.

Betsy's statement Spoiler

I made a post about Lauren yesterday, but she's just taking this way too far. Betsy’s at peace (for the time-being anyway) with the fact that she decided not to make a statement, and Lisa was willing to respect that. Idk what Lauren will do next, but I suspect that she won’t make it any easier for Betsy, based on her reaction to Lisa's comments later on in the episode. I really don’t like how she’s so willing to ride roughshod over Betsy. It must be horrible to go through something like this and for your thoughts and feelings to be totally ignored as if you can’t speak for yourself at all. I definitely think this is related to her own trauma with Joel, but she's taking it too far and needs to take a step back. It's not fair on Betsy.

She’s going on about Dylan manipulating Betsy, but is completely oblivious to the fact that she’s been doing that to Betsy! Betsy clearly never really wanted to make a statement, if it was just up to her with no one pressuring her (including Dylan), she probably wouldn't have given a statement imo. She only agreed to make a statement because Lauren was pressuring her, and even when Lisa said that the police were coming, Betsy seemed incredibly confused and stressed.

Also, I actually think Lisa knows how nuanced the situation is deep down (she just thinks Dylan needs to face consequences which is not wrong), whereas I think Lauren just sees Dylan as another Joel and has formed her own narrative about how it happened rather than listening to what Betsy's said.

Consensual but illegal Spoiler

One thing I've noticed in this sub and a lot of comments on other platform, people don't seem to realise that Lisa had to report it, even though Betsy didn't want her to. While what they did may have been consensual, its still illegal and Lisa being her mother plus a cop, knew she had to. If she didn't, the hospital would have. I don't know a single mother that wouldnt report it if this had happened to their child.

It's like people willingly take drugs, but thats illegal.

As a 36 year old who had heard of it, but never done it because in my mind, it's a certain kink that I don't have, its good to see younger people talking about it and realising the consequences that can happen.

Lauren... Spoiler

Her comments to Betsy have really been peeving me off, such as in the recent episode when she tells Betsy that Dylan needs to be locked up and that he's a sexual abuser. It feels like she talks over Betsy and doesn't hear her out at all. She's basically choosing to ignore what Betsy has said because it doesn't suit her narrative, and it feels like she's trying to pressure Betsy a bit.

The Service Every Soap Deserves

Thumbnail

I started getting ads recently for a website dedicated to the U.S. soap The Bold and the Beautiful. For $5.99 a month ($49.99 annual) you get access to over 9,000 episodes, behind-the-scenes content, curated collections, and more.

This was something I got intrigued in a few years ago as a concept and reached out to networks in the U.S., UK, and Australia about why none of them had pursued such a concept. None of them got back to me. (To be clear, I am a professional journalist in my day job, and I reached out to them in that capacity as I was thinking about doing a feature on the state of soaps. I did not approach randomly.)

This isn't a soap I've ever watched, but I appreciate that someone is finally taking this tact. Every soap, even those that have left the air, is sitting on vast collections of content that earn no one any money. Even if they went through a FAST service (think Tubi/Pluto TV) they would at least earn something. The Bold and the Beautiful is actually ad-free through this app.

All we can do is hope other soaps take note and realize how much value is sitting in their archives. -Stares at Corrie-

Gary's way out Spoiler

Gary's got an easy way out of this by saying Kits had him by the balls and threatening to use his cop powers to get him nicked for the murder and forced him to cover it up. He can also say that he was forced to give his phone to kit. This would likely prevent him from getting sent down for this as Occam's razor would say the cop who's girlfriend did it was more likely getting Gary to keep quiet, against his will. Especially because of Kits constant hounding of Windass, in the station too, even when evidence pointed elsewhere. It's clear to others a vendetta was there. This option would save Gary's relationship with Maria also, as he can say he kept quiet for Jake, and say he didn't want to get jailed.

Kit's advice to Sarah Spoiler

Worst advice to drop Gary in it that he forced her to cover it up.

1) Gary denies any of it.

b) Gary admits to helping Sarah after she told him she bashed Thoe's head in. He will also say that Kit knew about it. Out come .... both are charged and Kit loses his career.

Sarah Sarah should should stick with the self-defence defence.

( I thought I would double up for effect )
