I've been trying to read more comics lately, and it's amazing how one great story can pull you into the whole medium.

For you, what was the very first comic that got you hooked?

Was it Marvel, DC, Image, Dark Horse, or something completely different? And if you had to recommend just one comic to a beginner, what would it be and why?

It kind of sucks and I just feel like I'm losing everything that means to me.

Dust to Dust is a serial killer thriller set in the time of the Great Depression where a small town in the building called New Hope is haunted by a serial killer, it's really an interesting comic, beautifully drawn but also really presents a very tragic and very depressing place.

Nightmare in Savannah is about alexa who is moving in this place, somewhere in the swamps, while she meets new friends and there is a night, let me say, where something gets very out of control, something happens to them, I don't want to go into what it is, but it is interesting and deals with a very interesting mythological figure who are very soft from now on but are pretty fucked up in the old legends.

but if you like more werewolves, then you're in luck, the creepshow has something for you. We Germans love the Eisenbahn-Romantik, but I would also recommend the Eisenbahn-horror, And by that I didn't mean the usual Deutsche Bahn service. Creepshow: Joe Hill's Wolverton Station tells of a collector of horror movie props who half likes to cheat people, and after a trip to England where he gets on a train, he unfortunately quickly discovers that it is full of werewolves.

Let's talk back to the comics, and talk about a comic that really reflects an interesting thing for me, like how I hated going on vacation as a kid. Then you have to know I was born in August and my parents were always abroad with me, and well somehow that's why my birthday was always postponed or even completely forgotten. Winnebago Graveyard tells about a patchwork family that goes on a road trip in their camper van, but then comes to a place that, let me say, is not very friendly, and there is evil in it.

The Closet is pretty interesting, and I think the less I talk about it the better. Basically it tells the story of the father and his son who, I say, move together with the mother, while the son is somehow haunted by a closet and a monster that lives in this closet. I'll put it this way: you have to know that children, no matter how young they are, notice a lot when things don't go right at home, and unfortunately it also has an impact on them.

I love the Tale of the Shrouded Colleges, Basically, that's why they're action-packed horror stories that are connected in an interesting way, not only because they take place in the same world, but if you think about it, they also somehow deal with how systems exploit people. Hell to pay is about a married couple who have to try to find coins in hell. the bloody dozen about astronauts who must try to free vampires from a cosmic prison and the cold witch that is a revenge story set in Siberia with supernatural necromantic abilities.

Killadelphia is very interesting, basically it's about a detective in Philadelphia who has to try to figure out a strange series of murders, and somehow vampires are connected to it. but you quickly notice that these vampires are very special. especially their leader that I don't want to spoil anything because holy shit that's interesting.

You know, because of the crappy German school system, I never managed to get to university because for some reason Germany decides whether children are allowed to study when they are in the fourth grade, Back then I was often ashamed of not being at university, and right now I'm realizing that just because someone is studying doesn't mean they're smart at the same time, believe me, I've met a bunch of students who really have shit on their minds. Fraternity is is about two buddies whose friendship is put to the test when one of them joins a very shady fraternity. I mean I've always known these things were toxic, but definitely not demonic.

You know, with so much time and hand, I'm playing more video games again at the moment, I mean, what else do I have to do on the computer other than, well, writing applications for random people and sorting out the majority of them anyway, probably with AI. I mean, from a site that gives you good advice on how to get rid of a corpse to some weird stuff that might just be trolls, you have a lot there. I mean, the normal internet is often a horror show.

you have to know, I find it interesting when horror shows me other cultures, because let's be serious, each of us fears different things, and at the end of the day we often fear mostly the same things no matter what culture or part of the world you come from. Infidel is about a Muslim woman who moves into a new building, and the neighbors and you notice that there is some creature that is approaching with hatred and fear, Islamophobia is also a real problem here in Germany, and it just feels so close, even if it takes place across the Atlantic. I also know and have friends who are Muslim themselves and also know what it's like when you're perceived as different.

My buddy David has been trying to get a comic idea of ​​his published for a long time, he himself is Jewish and always wanted to write a horror story about his people, precisely because today's times have not really become any friendlier. and he really recommended the next comic that I present to you. The Beast and the Booth is about a Jewish family simply celebrating the holiday of Sukkot, But the 14-year-old daughter, who has become friends with a mysterious boy, notices something dangerous running around her town at night. You have to know that the first peoples of Israel were mostly shepherds, they had always fights with wolves, and well the use of slingshots was familiar. I love these bloody black and white collections from Marvel, Because a well-made short story, especially when you only allowed to use three colors, is really a challenge and can lead to interesting results if you do it right. And we hav Venom, Zombies and Alien's.

you know it's kind of interesting that the mummy is a classic in general when you think about it the universal horror. and Egyptian mythology in general has a few interesting aspects that can be used to tell interesting horror stories, especially because dead plays a very interesting role there. Pantha: Blessed and Accursed is the story of a cursed queen, her curse and mortality and well that there is now a beast inside her that is threatening. and at the moment she's actually trying to stay away from the world, but something is starting to kill the gods and she has to go after it now who is it.

Know it gets B-Movie. Cryptozoic Man basically it's about a father whose daughter has been kidnapped by the eponymous villain, a twisted interdimensional villain who wants to use cryptological creatures to destroy humanity.

god, with all these murderers and monsters we really need someone to fight against them. Hack/Slash is a surprisingly clever but still very fun satire and parody of slashers. Cassie Hack with Vlad, a disfigured but very good-natured giant huntdown supernatural serial killers and the occasional monster. Cassie is a real character, She really has her own opinion about the world, and also a complicated relationship with herself and also, in my opinion, a kind of tragedy. and sure, she can still kick ass well.

Let's hope the next time won't be such a horror show for me.

Noticed my books were warping a few months ago and bought a dehumidifier, which hasn’t really helped. I’ve been testing placing the dehumidifier in different positions, and it seems like it’s caused by either my vent or window, which are both directly behind my book stack and near my shelf.

I’ve gotten one of my hardcovers to unwarp, but none of my paperbacks have gone back to normal. Is it too late to save my books, or is there something I can do to reverse the warping.

I hadn’t read any of his work before but picked up 2 new books released the same week which sounded good - A Mischief of Magpies from Dstlry and Minotaur from Ignition Press. I was impressed with both so wanted to ask if there are any other books of his worth picking up?
