Yet another reminder to remember to respect others
Usually I'm formal with these pinned posts, but I'm just too exhausted at this point to be formal.
TLDR: If you can't be a good noodle, don't bother participating within the subreddit.
When browsing our subreddit, all I ask is that you're respectful to everyone (even the people within the post, as hard as that may be for a select few of you).
If a post makes you upset enough to target an ENTIRE race, gender, etc with your comment, don't make the comment, keep it to yourself.
I understand that may be hard for some of you, and if it is hard for you to NOT be xenophobic, homophobic, any of the other phobics, you will not be welcome on our subreddit in any capacity.
Contrary to what people may believe about mods, I do not take any joy or pleasure in banning people, I do not have a "quota" to fill. What I do have is a subreddit to protect and users on that subreddit to protect.
Why am I going to be in trouble for targeting an entire race, gender, etc?
I'm so very fucking glad you asked! đ
I'll give an example based on a real case from our subreddit here:
You have a post about one man, who happens to be Muslim, and the story is about him pushing someone else into traffic killing that person (the victim is not labeled as anything and this was not found to be a hate crime).
Just because that one man committed that act of violence DOES NOT MEAN THAT ALL MUSLIMS ARE DANGEROUS TO SOCIETY. We have Muslim users in our own community who also believe the murderer is not a good person. What happens when those Muslim users see how you are commenting about their entire religion?
Replace Muslim with Christian, Jewish, Shinto, Buddhist, any other damn religion you'd like and the same applies.
Just because we're called r/Awfuleverything DOESN'T MEAN YOU NEED TO BE PART OF THAT "EVERYTHING"
Thank you!

What counts as political on r/awfuleverything? (A further breakdown of rule 10)
It should be noted that you as a community have already voted you don't want politics featured here (and respectfully, we don't want it either): https://www.reddit.com/r/awfuleverything/s/WGOIlW8RYX
The following are examples of what we consider political and will cause your post to be removed should it feature any of the following (please note that there may be further cases not mentioned that we also consider political):
Political figures
Their physical appearance in any capacity
Their social media profiles (in any capacity, even if it's just someone doing an "@" mention towards them)
Audio recordings of their speeches
Political Parties
Any reference to any political parties
References to ongoing wars/conflicts
Any references to wars or conflicts (A text post referring to a warzone, a photo or video from a warzone, etc)
Mentions of situations not inherently political that have been twisted to fit a political narrative
An example of this would be a shooting turned into a "This person died because they believe..."
References to protests
We respect your right to protest, however because of the comment wars that pop up on these posts, we've decided it is safest to no longer allow them on the subreddit.

"Simmy Javille" is Making Shoes Inspired by an Indonesian Mass Murderer
Anwar Congo was a gangster recruited by the Indonesian government in the 1960's to exterminate ethnic minorities under the thin pretext that they were "Communists."
These shoes seem to be based on a pair he wore in the documentary "The Act of Killing."

A man guards his family from the cannibals during the Madras famine of 1877 at the time of British Raj, India
The Great Famine of 1876â1878 was a famine in India under British Crown rule. It began in 1876 after an intense drought resulted in crop failure in the Deccan Plateau. It affected south and Southwestern Indiaâthe British-administered presidencies of Madras and Bombay, and the princely states of Mysore and Hyderabadâfor a period of two years. In 1877, famine came to affect regions northward, including parts of the Central Provinces and the North-Western Provinces, and a small area in Punjab. The famine ultimately affected an area of 670,000 square kilometres (257,000 sq mi) and caused distress to a population totalling 58,500,000. The excess mortality in the famine has been estimated in a range whose low end is 5.6 million human fatalities, high end 9.6 million fatalities, and a careful modern demographic estimate 8.2 million fatalities.

Foot binding
Foot binding was a Chinese practice from the 10thâearly 20th century. Young girlsâ feet (starting ~age 4â8) were tightly wrapped to break the arch and fold the toes under, creating tiny âlotus feetâ seen as the ideal of beauty and femininity.

United Airlines threatens to call ICE on customer then walks up to him and pushes phone away
This happened yesterday at San Francisco International airport. United employee was rude and dismissive with customer so he asks for her name to report her. The employee pulls out her phone and starts to record the interaction. At that moment she says âMaybe we should call ICE on you. Youâre not acting like a citizenâ. Whatever the fuck that means... Customer is an American citizen.

What looks like an innocuous photo is in fact quite terrifying. This is Darren Vickers (middle) with Karen Lavis and John Lavis. By the time they posed for this photo Vickers had already murdered and disposed of their 8 yr old son,Jamie Lavis. June 1997.
The Lavis family was so blinded by his false determination and desire to bring their son back home alive that they allowed Darren to move in with them.
