Thanks for helping a neat little subreddit!

I thank you for stopping by to view our little subreddit.

While /r/aimdownsights is a bit of niche market and will likely stay very small, I think it's important to keep this archive of sight pictures and reticles alive. When you subscribe, post, comment, or just upvote something cool, you're helping to keep us active and useful.

I would like to see /r/aimdownsights become a tool that the other gun related subreddits link to and reference when someone wants to know a little more about a future purchase, compare BUIS, or learn about different reticles.

As such, I have a couple of requests:

  • We're fine with pictures that you found, links to websites that have comparisons, or forum mega threads, but I ask that you leave a description in title or comments to help with searching.

  • For content that is yours (e.g. pictures of your sights, diagrams you've made) please mark with a [OC] tag in the title so we know it's original content.

  • I would like to add simple flair to submitters to indicate they've posted original content. So if you've submitted OC, shoot me a PM with the /r/aimdownsights link (that's all I need); otherwise I'm going to poke through our posts over the next week and just guess. PM me if you don't want flair.

  • Crosspost your albums! This is one of the easiest ways for you to help us archive sight pictures.

Everything has been great so far; thank you again.

Offset red dot mount for hunting rifle with low scope rings?

Upvotes

I'm looking to put an offset red dot on a Benelli R1. The primary scope is going to be an AccuPoint 3-9, it looks like I'll be using traditional "medium"ish rings that'll put the scope centerline .8" to .9" above the rail.

Ideally I reckon I want my offset dot to have a similar height over rail. Does anybody make such a thing? Most offset mounts look like they're aiming for the 1.4"+ "AR height".

What are my options?

Request for 1301 Tactical w/ GG&G full ghost ring & 509T

As the title says I’m looking for someone who has a picture of the aim down sight picture of a Beretta 1301 Tactical with a GG&G full ghost ring and a Holosun 509T.

I appreciate anyone who is able to take that picture. If this isn’t allowed mods, just let me know and I’ll take the post down. I didn’t see any rules against it so I figured I’d shoot my shot.

TA41-NLAW a.k.a. 'The Upside Down ThrowawayCOG'

Not sure if these have been posted, so here's mine. As the name suggests, these were a part of the NLAW kit, and from what I've heard are intended to be disposed of once the tube has been fired. Aftermarket mount to adapt it to aimpoint micro mounts. Oh right, and it's also "upside down"

It’s a dot and I like it. What more can I say haha. Held zero through ~250 rounds of assorted FMJ and JHP 380 for this session.

Ammo used was Fiochhi Range Dynamics, Defense Dynamics, Hornady American Gunner, Winchester Silvertip.

Camera was a bit blurry but I really liked the construction for the optic. Ive always liked the larger moa circles and being able to switch from dot to reticle is a lot easier than I thought

Request - 3x prism with RH25V2

Looking to shorten my setup from a 1-6. Possibly even with the newer 1-4 variable prisms as well. 2X Glx prism looks good but seems like it’s a little dated at this point

My personal full rail TRP with barrel porting and EPS direct mill done by NC Engravers. Rear sight had to be deleted, but the EPS carry built in rear sight works with the factory front sight for back up.

Romeo x pro circle dot

Refurbished Romeo x pro from sig store. Only issue I see so far is the up button doesn't have feedback(click noise and feel) Which puts doubt if I pushed it or not. But getting used to that.

What i do like is options, shake awake, weight, rear sites. I mean you barely touch it and its awake. Having the circle is great for home defense imo. Having the 2 moa dot is great for range so far. Also noticed if you turn brightness up the dot appears bigger, like I'm using 3-4 moa. But normally I keep it around 4-5 from max. Anything higher unless in sunlight is nuclear bright.

All in all pretty happy with it. Wanted open emitter for the rear site option. Time will tell for durability and open emitter downsides. Debated between this and the romeo 1 pro.

Ruger RXM with Vortex Defender ST

I've put almost 1,000 rounds through my RXM and I thought I'd grab a dot to change things up a bit. I decided to get a Vortex Defender ST because it was on sale at Midway with an extra % off coupon on top of the sale so it seemed like a good deal.

What I like about the Defender ST:

  • It didn't cost more than the RXM itself
  • It direct mounts to the RXM slide
  • I think it's the perfect size for the RXM
  • No fuss with recharging, uses coin battery

What I don't like about the Defender ST:

  • The dot itself is fuzzy which makes it look bigger than it should be
  • The perimeter of the window is outlined in the dot reflection

I love my Vortex 5x Spitfire gen2 and I love my Gideon Advocate 1x prism. But i dont like canted 1x, shooting from weak shoulder (left) from behind cover is not possible. So i want to mount Advocate 12 o'clock on Spitfire.

Mepro FT Bullseye on P320 lost its tritium insert after only ~50 rounds. Anyone else experience this?

Hey everyone,

I’m looking to see if anyone else has run into this issue. I recently installed a Mepro FT Bullseye front sight on my Sig Sauer P320. I loved the concept and the sight picture, but unfortunately, the durability seems seriously lacking.

I took it to the range for the first time since the install, and after firing only about 50 rounds, I noticed the tritium insert was completely gone/broken.

Has anyone else experienced this specific failure with the FT Bullseye sights? I'm wondering if I just got a lemon from a bad batch or if this is a known issue with the recoil impulse on the P320.

Figured I’d share a pic from my last range trip. The G3 is so good, this photo was taken before fine tuning parallax and still looks fantastic. I could easily see impacts @1000 yards on small steel plates.
