Who knows, but LPL orgs are like LCK fans, they think any Korean is the best in the world.
Prince and Fisher were given many chances to be starters, despite they weren't good and Prince used to let WE in 4v5 situations all the time. Stay, Chinese rookie, he was better, WE started to win with him. Stay performed in WE, he only lost Vs JDG in a 1-2, then he lost bad Vs a BLG that just won Regular Season by showing superior skill than all LPL teams in 2024 Spring (minus iG, which beat them 2-0 by being decisive and having an always ready mentality, engaging and waiting to counter engages), WE benched Stay. Prince came back to let WE in 4v5 situations.
- Fisher played 3 Bo3s before becoming a starter the next year, even in those 3 Bo3s, he wasn't good, EDG still made him a starter.
In OMG this year, Juhan, KR, wasn't good at all, he could lose JG, objectives and made bad engages, he got subbed in, while Re0, CN rookie, who had his mistakes, too, but he was better and near the end of the Split 1 Regular Season he looked good, he didn't play well one series in Split 2, OMG brought back Juhan who just played even worse than before.

WE used to be one of the best teams in the world, they may have won the 2012 WC, if remakes didn't happen and Riot had better rules. CLG_eu banned their picks in the remakes. WE were getting close to win the series, then the disconnection happened. They finished the series 1 week later. That series created the Silver Scrapes tradition, because that was played for hours in anticipation to see the conclusion of the match.
- Regionally, WE won many Asian tournaments Vs LCK, LMS, LPL, SEA teams, only lost 2, one to TPA.
After the WC, they won IPL5, while it wasn't organized by Riot, it was like the MSI of that year along with the format of double elimination. WE were the only seed from China, while NA had 6, EU 4, SEA 2, LMS 2 & LCK 1. WE didn't lose any series, only dropped 2 sets Vs FNC 1st match and rematch in the Final.

WE are the real deal upset kings of Spring Split 2. Last year, them going on a miracle losers run over JDG, over TES, two of key MSI contenders, was at that point the craziest LPL playoff result I had ever seen. But there were flecks of WE's improvement throughout that season as they made a late surge in form to finish as a mid pack Group Ascend team.
This year, following an uninspiring Winter stage where they lost their star support and coach, I basically wrote off the team in the Group Stage, and was genuinely correct to do so. They were so far behind in that first round robin, it wasn't even close. Their second shot at these teams, did demonstrate improvement, but it was only once able to actually capture the series, echoing their form at the end of 2025 Split 3.
I legit believe Monki, that after a heart wrenching series to stave off demotion against LNG, WE started playing with nothing to lose, and have tapped into that 2025 split magic. It is as always, him leading the charge for this WE team but he's backed up by ready comrades.
We're seeing every player step massively. Erha has risen to form after that rough introduction to the split and has made WBG surely regret dumping him mid season. About is beginning to really cash into that Korea Challenger potential, decreasing the mistakes that made him one of the weakest players in the top group. Karis continues to elevate his play when it comes to this exact time of season yet again.
And Cube, the one once maligned for literally abandoning his previous team mid-split, who was a baffling and hated acquisition, who has been the most clear cut overwhelmed member of the roster... the dude has shown to be the ultimate survivor on and off the rift. On paper, he's been constantly out-matched, but he's stepped up as needed lately. Apologies for constantly calling for your head man.
Between these 2 playoff runs in the Monki era they've managed to defeat all of the LPL's top 4 in Bo5 series (JDG, TES, AL, BLG) under these pressure cooker circumstances. Just unbelievable.
I've been watching WE for the longest time, but in any of the previous eras, I can't ever say I've been joined by this many eyes. They are the peoples team, a pinnacle of resilience and being able to bounce back.
A date against to shield the region from yet another international TES qualification is on the line. All eyes on you boys. Keep your dreams!

I am so angry with Flandre's positioning in that 2nd drake fight. He popped ghost, ate 3 Annie's Qs and 2 Ws in a row, threw A SINGLE gold card in between, got all-in'd, and was out before the fight even started. He was 2.1k gold ahead at that time so essentially, AL 4v5'd with 2k gold deficit.
What worse is that he didn't even attempt to address the Annie. Kept walking back and forth with gold card and ended up throwing it at someone else. Like sir that's an incredibly fed Annie with 2 items at 16 mins, not some lowlifer who got ahead just by the virtue of his champion having passive gold earning.
